Read the reviews that said good comfort food so we stopped in. The only thing comfortable was our car seats as we drove away. Service was terrible, servers never got off the phone. They had no veggies at all except canned string beans. If you...want catfish--their specialty--go eat it raw from the Santa Fe river. Oh, the floor was sticky-never a good sign.More
We have had several meals here. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. We have had lunch and dinner with them. I would say the shrimp is my favorite. We're happy to have a hometown restaurant.
Nanny's Diner is a local style restaurant in a small town with a small town atmosphere. Do not expect fast food. They cook every thing upon ordering. We had lunch and the service was very good. The owner/manager was on site and very attentive to...the customers. She even help the waiter delver meals to tables with large orders. I had a hamburger with fries an my wife had a Philly Cheese sandwich with fries. Both were cooked very good and matched our request. They served our sandwiches an fries in baskets and the plastic hardware was on the table which we did not mind, in fact we could chose what we needed. Of the many previous restaurants that have been at this location this is the best one. As info they serve breakfast all day.More
Should have left after I used the restroom. I've smelled better things in wood pulp factories. You get to pick your own plastic utensils from a community bucket on the windowsill. I think The paper plates were actually shaved in half because my guests Eggo...waffles kept leaking through. My breakfast sandwich was three times the cost of a McDonalds and three times less tasty-so that was equal.
I did not experience comfort food and that's what the reviews said, and that's why we stopped in.More
The more time I spend in very small towns, the more I realize these are the places where you find some of the very best food.
Nanny's Diner and Deli has excellent food in relaxed atmosphere. This is a diner and there are precious few...of those in Florida. The prices are a steal. Ordered the catfish (and best I can tell, this diner is the only pace that has fried catfish right, read my other reviews....the other's aren't doing it right). Talk about cheap. 3 giant catfish, a basket of fries and a bowl of baked beans for just a few more dollars than Subway across the street? No way these are "average" prices! Seems like a bargain to me.
Yes the food is served in baskets (it's a diner after all) and there is plenty of plastic silverware (diner again!). The fried catfish was to die for. Plenty of sandwiches, breakfast fare...and it's all very good. I haven't found a place quite this attentive either. Always checking to make sure everything was good, did we need any refills?
As another reviewer wrote, DRIVE SLOW...it's a tiny town of less than 1,000 people. Go too fast and your already through town and missed the diner! If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and give it a try! Cheap, delicious and served with a smile! If you like catfish, this is the place to go. (please don't change that recipe!)More
Stopped here on the way to Orlando with my granddaughter. She calls me Nanna and thought eating at Nanny's Diner sounded cool. The service was good. They give the kids a rubber ducky which is cool. The prices were average. Nice cozy country vibe to...the place. The problem was the food is just average. It's served on a paper plate which makes it even worse. Plastic utensils? These in my book are only used for picnics and camping. Not for eating out at a restaurant.More
