Maybe we just caught this place on an off night. It’s late October and maybe it’s been a long summer and the life had been sucked out if the staff. When you spend $200 for two people, you expect more. The charcuterie board looked like...someone threw a handful of small pieces of cheese and crackers on a plate. Sad. The steak frites steak was not worthy of being served at a Sizzler (sorry to those who love Sizzler but at least you don’t spend $38 for that steak. The duck was tasteless and nothing was particularly hot. The staff seemed to consist of nothing more than food runners. There was no sense that they knew the menu and really cared. As I said, maybe we caught this place on a bad night. But it was BAD.More

On our last night in Rehoboth, my wife and I dined at La Fable. La Fable is a cozy French cafe with a full bar, good wine list and outdoor seating. We began by sharing the salade de fable of fresh greens, fruit, candied walnuts...and blue cheese dressed in a balsamic vinaigrette. They split the salad on two plates, making sharing easier. The salad was dressed perfectly and all the ingredients were fresh. For dinner, we chose the beef bourguignon and the seared duck breast. The beef bourguignon had a rich sauce with tender beef and vegetables. The duck was served in a rich goat cheese sauce with vegetables, cherry port gastrique and toasted hazelnuts. Both were excellent. We finished with chocolate mousse and a chambord cake for dessert. La Fable was one of the best French cafes that we have dined in and would highly recommend it to all.More

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner. The staff did an excellent job making us feel welcome and helping celebrate the occasion. The entree portion size was larger than I expected, but when the food is good, this isn't a bad thing, is it?

We decided to stop by a day early to see if there was space and they were happy to accommodate us with a socially distanced out door table for 2, with staff wearing masks! Thank you!! We enjoyed the escargot (perfectly served, not over garlicky,...with wonderful baguette. Then the Bouillabaisse special, with an abundance of seafood in a tasty blended sauce that we thoroughly enjoyed. Add the French wine and we had a terrific meal with a super server Viktoria P! Merci for a great evening!More

My husband and I grew up going to the Delaware beaches and have frequented many restaurants in Rehoboth for many years. We were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by La Fable, we’ve traveled to France and other European countries and it compared to some of those meals!...From the service to the food and ambiance, it was absolutely incredible. The cheese board was top notch, but the duck with gnocchi and chicken cordon bleu were incredible. Wine and drinks selection really nice. I highly recommend this spot for a night out/upscale meal, it had the perfect atmosphere outside on a beautiful end of summer night and a wonderful Parisian indoor dining room feel. Don’t think twice, get here for dinner ASAP!!!!More

My husband and I have gone twice for dinner this summer, sitting at the bar both times. The service was efficient, and everyone was so friendly! The food was absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad was perfect - not too lemony or fishy, as was the...carrot soup of the day. The canard (duck) had all sorts of different flavors - what a medley - and I especially liked the different textures between the tender meat and the crunchy hazelnuts. The beef burgundy is rich (as it should be), and I was happy to enjoy some leftovers the next day. One improvement I'd suggest, because I'm a beer snob, is to offer some craft beers.More

Our time in Rehoboth Beach was coming to an end and we knew we had not yet found that very special restaurant. It was then that we began driving around the Rehoboth Avenue area since our phone calls from the beach did not result in...securing a dinner reservation. As I cruised in and out of surrounding streets, my wife would get out of the car, enter a restaurant to find if we could get a dinner reservation. Just when we had given up, she spotted La Fable. We got the reservation and could not wait to go! With 7PM reservation in hand, we were greeted by a very friendly host, shown to a lovely table and somehow knew we were in for a special treat. Most other tables were already being filled by a distinguished, yet jubilent array of dinner guests. We ordered cocktails, were shown our menus, ordered, and enjoyed the ambiance. Our food arrived with little wait. I will state now that ALL was over the top in preparation, cuisine, presentation, and flavour. My trout was AMAZING! I have never had such a delicious dish, EVER! My wife also enjoyed her dinner. This restaurant is a must to experience. We WILL be back during our next trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and to La Fable. Highly recommended to all!!More

I really wanted this meal to be excellent. Maybe I set my expectations impossibly high. I will try to be constructive in my review because there’s no point in being derogatory without any constructive criticism. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the hostess...who showed us to a lovely table. The decor was very French and fun. Our waiter came over and was immediately attentive and Informative. Unfortunately, the food was the problem. One of the nights specials was seafood stew, and we could smell one of the orders going by, and not in a good way. We decided to start with escargot . The herb butter sauce was delicious, but the escargot was a little rubbery. My husband‘s duck was ordered medium and it came out medium rare at best, it was difficult to cut, especially in the bowl that they served it in, and very difficult to chew. The gnocchi on the dish had a goat cheese filling, it was cloying and gummy. The dish was covered with some sort of shredded radicchio. It was a strange assortment of things on a plate. The scallops in my coquille St Jacques were mushy, although the mushroom leak cream sauce was quite good, and I did love the lemon cauliflower on the side. We had made scallops at home two nights prior, ordered from the Browne trading company, and they were 10 times better than what we were served here. Maybe they could use Browne trading company as their purveyor, to get the freshest fish? The wine list was good and those prices were about right for a high-end restaurant. The prix fixe entrées at $38 were like paying Manhattan prices without the quality. Can’t comment on dessert because by then we were ready to leave. We tipped our waiter well, because it wasn’t his fault that the food was disappointing. We wish Fable well, but the quality of their food needs work.More

From the welcome by the owner, to the impeccable service, to delicious entrees and dessert, our dinner last Friday night was exceptional. The star of the show was the food, in particular the pan-seared duck with a cherry wine sauce, homemade gnocci, and charred broccolini....There's a nice wine list as well, and the Cahors was a perfect complement to the duck. Generous portions! So we ended up ordering one dessert with 3 forks. We dined outside, and were glad the restaurant is on a quieter side street. Live piano music was a pleasant bonus! Highly recommend. Send the teenagers out for pizza (we did!)More

Delicious food. Excellent service by Gregory. Warm, French bistro atmosphere. After more than a year of being away, it was great to be back at one of our favorite restaurants! Scallops and Steak Frites- yummy!
