Excellent gourmet menu in the dining area and great pub menu for the bar area. Love this place! Menu evolves seasonally so never gets old. Food always amazes with lots of flavor and unique selections. Excellent service. Not inexpensive.

We always eat in the bar--it seems cozier and more lively than the dining room, although there are no reservations taken in the bar, so you have to time it just right or be patient. The menu here changes periodically but they always keep some of there wonderful old mainstays (Grilled trout is one of my all time favorites.) The... More

The food here is always excellent. My wife and I enjoy coming here on "date night" because we always get a great meal. The portions are large, and the menu changes seasonally. The PEI mussels are excellent, and the hangar steak I got once was phenomenal. Seriously, I've never gotten a bad meal. The building is small and doesn't look... More

This is of course not haute cuisine, but one can feel (taste) love and passion of the chef. I like the concept of a 3-themed menu (Italy, Main, Winter), and a nice mix of classics (Hanger steak, gravlox, onion soup) and a bit more venturesome, although still within the bistro food mainstream, entries (barolo braised lamb shank, wild boar bolognese,... Welcoming and experienced staff. I had a delicious steak with an unbelievable amount of chips. The hot bread before the appetizers is a great idea, and the oil that was served with the bread was great (honestly, it reminded me my italian oil). During a second dinner I also had a great octopus salad. You can also choose from a... More

Cafe Routier prepares delicious food and never seems to miss a beat. The menu changes periodically but they always keep some of their old standards as well (the "camp style" trout is outstanding). The drinks are excellent, the wine list is good and the service is better than almost anywhere (except maybe Bar Bouchee or River Tavern)--they are friendly, professional,... More

I have been going to Cafe Routier for several years and the food is consistently good. Always feel welcome and the service is outstanding. Meat loaf is a specialty.

We have not eaten at this restaurant for a couple years now and are wonder why it took so long to return. Two people split their Ahi Tuna salad, which very good. Three of us ordered the New York steak with home made fries. One had duck, another hand scallops and another had at fagitta. Without exception the meals were... More

We have been going here since it opened, never treated like this, experienced rushed impersonal service. When we finished our appetizers and were not ready to order dessert, we were presented with the bill. We were planning on ordering more food and drinks. Clearly it was busy! When I finished my glass of wine, one of the young men, brought... More

Year in and and year out Cafe Routier has maintained a standard of excellence which places it in the top tier of any restaurants on the shoreline. The menu changes seasonally and their autumn menu is terrific. Old standbys like meat loaf and trout are still there; the salmon is superb--I'm not sure if I've ever have had a bad... More
