I ate here with a friend who had been here many times before but it was my first time. Although they were out of the famous fried okra we ordered the stewed lamb and it was divine, as was the spinach dish accompaniment. A couple of dark Indian beers finished off a truly superb meal. I give very few Excellent... More

If you want to experience Indian cuisine, this is the place. Very nice atmosphere, very attentive service. The menu offers Indian cuisine of all sorts - mild to spicy, all nicely prepared and presented. I'll definitely go back!

I've eaten at so many Indian restaurants all over the country and they seem to all be pretty similar but Thali is a bit different, in a good way. Just a touch of elegance & refinement. The presentation is nice. The rice has raisins in it. The molai kofta is my personal favorite. Very nice service & atmosphere.

There are days where I have really enjoyed the food, but there are days were the food has been a miss. Their biriyani, on one occasion was very dry and inedible. But on another occasion was very flavorful. Their weekend buffets are Ok, like the fresh made dosas. But the currys tastes all the same, on some days. So, altogether,... More

I am Indian, and my husband is a picky Indian food eater. We always try and find a local Indian restaurant where we can frequently order from or visit. We have tried a few places in New Haven and this is the favorite by far. The food is delicious, and the quality of the meat is great. They have the... More

Wonderful food, not the usual Indian fare, a cut above! The food, service, and venue are all wonderful! Try Thali Two, the vegetarian branch.

Located at the far end of Orange St in New Haven it is a well hidden, spacious Indian restaurant where service people are very sensitive to your tastes and, if you ordered more spicy food than you were ready for they rush with tasty remedies to clean your palate. They serve food from many regions, including Goa and food is... More

I have eaten a lot of Indian food over the years, and although this was my first time eating at Thali, I thought the quality of the food was first-rate, as were the atmosphere and presentation. This is an excellent Indian restaurant, especially good for a group. We had saag paneer, the okra crisp (try this!), and a tasty chicken... More

This is the finest Indian food in New Haven. IMHO. The lamb chop "lollipops" are exquisitely prepared. All the variations of the biryani are terrific. The lamb biryani is spectacular. The goat dishes are excellent, but I'm slow to pick them because the pieces are so bony. The chicken dishes prepared in sauces are all delicious - savory sauces, tender... More
