Four of us went precisely a year ago to this restaurant to find ourselves the only ones there at what should have been a busy pre Christmas time. It was frankly terrible. In response to my review the new owners/management said they were refurbishing and changing the menus etc and to give them another try. So 12 months later we... More

I can't thank Mark and his team enough for making our wedding day so special. From the planning stages to the day itself, everything was perfect, and we were looked after all the way. We had a small wedding ceremony and Reception in the Surrey Barn and nothing was too much trouble. The room looked amazing and the Wedding breakfast... More

Great quality but expensive food and wine. Restricted choice of menu. Really needs a reality check food wise if they are to make the most of every customer visit. It's a shame as the quality is excellent.... it smacks of "pseudo reputation" ..... it's a great little spot 😜

I was working at nearby RHS Wisely and finishing around breakfast time took a punt at a local place. I was part of a four man crew and we were advised this was a good option. It was..! A lovely coaching inn type place..with a twist. You make you're way through really low beamed rooms to a very stylish breakfast/dining... More

Great renovations and good service but the food was overpriced and nothing to rave about. One of our party ordered fish which was accompanied by crushed potatoes on a bed of peas and lettuce. This was a leaf of lettuce!! When asked for more lettuce we were charged £4.00 for a small bowl of lettuce leaves. Admittedly we were refunded... More

Booked online a week before. Arrived to a cold reception by lady on the front desk who couldn't have looked more bored. We asked where the restaurant was and she made a hand gesture in the general direction of the end of the corridor. We entered the empty restaurant where no one acknowledged us. We could see a member of... More

A great 'little' Inn on the 'old A3' at a time when horse coaches stopped here, famously including that of Horatio Nelson on his way to Portsmouth to board the 'Victory' and all that. Recently refurbished, the oldy-worldie Inn is served by friendly and competent staff and retains some of it's charming history as a coaching house of note. The... More

The Inn has all the character I was expecting, but badly let down by inexperienced staff. The young wait team were friendly but clearly had no training in the basics. I had booked a table weeks ago for an afternoon tea deal for 4. It seemed a surprise to the reception who although nice kept saying , I'm new to... More

Attended a wedding reception here and was pleasantly surprised ! I read the earlier reviews about the re-furb taking place and have to say they have done a great job. Still keeping original features, the place is clean and bright. I was only attending the evening reception so only saw the building in the dark, my son and daughter were... More

Description
A famed coaching inn with a restaurant in the leafy village of Ripley, just a short drive from nearby Woking, The Talbot is said to have been the place at which love blossomed between Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. It's not just this tale that gives The Talbot such a sense of romance, from the traditional old beamed pub area to the glamorous glass backed restaurant, The Talbot is an obviously special place. Spacious and modern, the restaurant is light and airy during the day, a cosier feel falling over the room after dark, while outside, a beautiful garden and champagne terrace are the ideal al fresco spots. With an AA Rosette to its name, The Talbot offers food of a very high standard, garnering a mention in the Michelin guide. Chef Gavin Chilcott creates not only pub style classics, a must in the 15th century bar, but stylish modern British dishes with a strong focus on locality and seasonality.
