We hadn’t been to the Talbot for several years and thought we would give it another try, after a poor experience many years ago . Table of 4 on Sunday lunch, table was booked for later (2pm) so that we didn’t arrive at peak time....More

This used to be a Marco Pierre White restaurant and when it was it was excellent. It is still very nice but, as you might expect, the food has lost its sparkle. We like lunching here and walking down to Jo Downs amazing glass shop,...More

Very quiet in the bar and restaurant, so not a great deal of atmosphere. Food was very good and service was pretty good. RIb-eye for me, Burger for my wife. Triple cooked chips and onion rings were fantastic! Had a brownie for dessert which was...More

Visited with a twenty or so strong group after a 5 mile walk. Pre-ordered a BLT plus soup (wife had fries) Sorry to say, the sandwich wasn't really any better than I could have knocked up with supermarket components. The soup was very thick and...More

I have been going to this lovely Historic inn for 20 years and I never bore of it. It’s classy and understated in a way most pretentious Surrey pubs and Restaurants just don’t do. The staff are very friendly and the food is Gastronomic but...More

It is surprisingly difficult to find places to eat in the Byfleet/Cobham/Ripley loop that don't simply try too hard, and do far too much messing with the food. There are also many pubs that simply have exactly the same menu. We had scanned the area...More

Sunday lunch with friends today was rather unimpressive. The rib of beef was decent but the spuds were made of rubber. We all said the same thing. The "Jus" was very stingy & the plates were not warmed up ( amateurs ). One plate of...More

My wife and I were here last month on a Saturday. Restaurant was about a third full. Not a lot of staff for this type of location. We both got very tired looking for the fish in our fishcakes.

Had a voucher for afternoon tea from Travel Zoo and took my in-laws. Wasn't expecting the fantastic afternoon tea that was served, in great surroundings by excellent staff. Would thoroughly recommend the Talbot for afternoon tea and we will come again. Will try the restaurant...More

A famed coaching inn with a restaurant in the leafy village of Ripley, just a short drive from nearby Woking, The Talbot is said to have been the place at which love blossomed between Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. It's not just this tale that gives The Talbot such a sense of romance, from the traditional old beamed pub area to the glamorous glass backed restaurant, The Talbot is an obviously special place. Spacious and modern, the restaurant is light and airy during the day, a cosier feel falling over the room after dark, while outside, a beautiful garden and champagne terrace are the ideal al fresco spots. With an AA Rosette to its name, The Talbot offers food of a very high standard, garnering a mention in the Michelin guide. Chef Gavin Chilcott creates not only pub style classics, a must in the 15th century bar, but stylish modern British dishes with a strong focus on locality and seasonality.
