Great ambiance, good food, mediocre service. We made a reservation a month in advance and we still had to wait 20 minutes. Our waiter was friendly, but inattentive. Didn't check back to see if our meals were prepared correctly or ask us if we needed another drink. It's unlikely that we will return.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch at this bustling eatery. Warmed olive mix with pine nuts and raisins and creamy pimento cheese with bacon jam and grilled bread started us off...all were great. The Wedge salad was perfect combo of crispy prosciutto, maytag blue, puffed farro and avocado. Did I taste a bit of tarragon sprinkled on top? Not sure but I... More

A trip advisor review took us to this restaurant in vail village. The hot toddy I ordered was amazing as were the lamb salad , wagyu cheese steak and the burger. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the olive and bacon mussel sauce was on the extra salty side. Service was attentive... More

We ate here on Valentines Day and the food was excellent- great variety on the menu. Appetizers delicious, when asked our server told us the pork shank was the best thing on the menu and she was right! It melt in your mouth and was delicious! Everything was good-- great service but not rushed or hovered. Would definitely eat here... More

We were staying in the highly overrated Sebastian and were desperate to find somewhere that rose above basic mediocrity. Mountain Standard was simply outstanding. The creative style (my spicy grits with shrimp was inspired), coupled with accomplished cooking and delightful service was really a joy. We arrived early for our table - my mistake - and decided to eat at... More

Another favorite! The roasted chicken is the best. Flavors were a perfect blend. We visit this restaurant every year and have always been pleased.

This is a great spot for lunch or dinner. It's quieter at lunch. Noise level is the only drawback unless you're into the really lively crowd scene, in which case this will be your new home in Vail. Food: really good and innovative with a thoughtful selection of wines by the glass (the Père Mata sparkling from Spain was a... More

We had the special that was scallops. The description my the server was amazing. Sounded like we were getting 5 scallops and a whole bunch of yummy sides. As it turned out it was 5 very small scallops with minute veggies and a foam. It was good but no where near a main course as it was described. Pretty expensive.... More

I had dinner at Mt Standard with 2 friends while in a 4 night ski trip st Vail. We eat at the bar. Our bartender was great. Very friendly and welcoming. A had perhaps the best margarita I ever had that night maybe I had two? When I drink it is usually tequila. The house margarita uses a tequila imported... More

Description
From the creators of the legendary Sweet Basil in Vail Colorado, comes a fresh, innovative new restaurant. Aptly named Mountain Standard, this rustic and relaxed tavern aims to set a new standard in the Vail valley by using an ancient form of cooking. The majority of Mountain Standard’s menu is prepared via the most primal cooking method: over an open and live wood fire. The only restaurant in the valley to devote themselves to this age-old way of cooking, the food at this exciting new restaurant has rustic, bold and honest flavors, focusing on the purest ingredients in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond.Service, like the cuisine, has that perfect balance of providing a first class dining experience with a more casual vibe. There is no smoke and mirrors here – no fuss – just simple, honest, from the heart service and cooking. The beauty of the creek side location is mirrored by the high energy vibe of this dynamic restaurant. It is this energy, outstanding service, and hand crafted food that enables Mountain Standard to offer a truly unique dining experience, approachable and enjoyable to everyone.
