The food was okay but not great, and certainly not worth the high dollar prices. Atmosphere was upscale but felt "snooty." Service was efficient and professional but rather impersonal. We have been traveling to Vail most every year & this was our first visit to Matsuhisa; we are not likely to return as we have favorites that seem to give... More

This is a very expensive restaurant and so I could not understand the slightly unfriendly and snobby service. The view is magnificent from the front of the restaurant. The nigiri is fantastic as is the tempura. The rock clab claw tempura with butter ponzu was lovely. Did not try a pudding.

Great restaurant as advertised. Go with chef/waiter recommendations and try something outside your comfort zone, it will be good no matter what.

Good japanese food. Some dishes where very tasty (meat, cod) but others where just regular (spicy tuna). Its seems a place to see people and be seen. Expensive. Nice location.

second time here and it was as disappointing as the first time. Food is not good. Japanese food is meant to be prepared with an artful sensibility. My wife and I ordered a number of sashimi dishes and maki rolls. the sashimi came out on a white plate. all the fish was bunched together. the unagi was barely edible. The... More

......come here for the scene, not the food. I think this is my 3rd or 4th review of this restaurant The scene is outstanding w well dressed visuals. The food is good, but average for Japanese. The pieces of nigiri and maki sushi are approaching microscopic. There are superior places in Vail for Japanese food. As always the service at... More

This is the second Matsuhisa I've been to and again did not disappoint. The service was excellent and appropriately attentive. Wine list was extensive. The food was the star of the show and did not disappoint. No rushing through the meals here. It was truly a great gastronomic experience.

This place is one of Nobus restaurants and you can definitely tell by the quality and the presentations of the food. A lot of the menu is hard to understand and I feel like we didn't know what we were ordering most of the time but everything was pretty darn good. This is actually my 3rd time back to Matsuhisa... Very nice place in a great location next to the skating rink. Excellent service. Loved the warm sake. Sashimi combo tasty. Udon soup great. For dessert must have the shave ice over ice cream. Yummy! Very satisfying evening with family.

We enjoyed our Friday night dinner at Matsuhisa but were slightly underwhelmed by quality of the sushi. Nothing bad, but nothing melt-in-your-mouth spectacular either. Additionally, the portion sizes of the sushi were quite small. If you need a solid sushi fix in Vail, this is absolutely the place to go. The food is very good, the service is excellent, and...
