I have to disagree with the the one review that rated Carl's as mediocre; our food was delicious! Both my husband and I had a chicken fried steak and we shared a side of green beans. The portions are huge; I ate about half of...More

Food was very tasty! Staff was friendly. Strange bathroom setup. But overall a good experience. Portions are very large, prepare to take some home.

Carls is under new ownership. Things are more expensive, 50 cents for a tiny side of ranch etc. A lot of great food has been taken off the menu and the quality is lower. The fries and bread are different, not as good. I used...More

Fantastic food and service. The burgers were to die for. You have to try "the Business". We had a late dinner after an escape room experience at the Crooked Key. A fitting end to a great night.

Stopped in for happy hour and left very disappointed. The bartender was more interested in his phone than helping us and when he finally did he was terribly rude. Food wasn't great and the prices seemed high especially for happy hour. Maybe it was an...More

My first visit after the new owners/chefs took over and I was underwhelmed. Menu looks similar but many items missing. Prices look to be the same HOWEVER, recipes have changed and portion sizes have been decreased. For instance, the famous brussel sprouts are no longer...More

Service sucks sat for way too long at the bar without being even acknowledged so I walked out. Staff all looked unhappy and boring anyways.

Hey Kevo... We know you are upset that you were not hired, but acting this way is really sad.

Sarah was a great server, super friendly and attentive. Checked in during apps and meal to make sure everything was good. And the food was all really good. Brussels sprouts and Mac&cheese are stand out apps. Great meal.

The customers here are much nicer and friendlier than the working staff. The bartenders are into themselves and don't care much about service. The food is inconsistent - some days it is good, others not. The wine selection is not that good either. I have...More

Went with a big group - they accommodated. Everybody enjoyed their meal, nothing bad on the menu. Amazing lamb burger. Killer trout. Try it all.

Description
A place for the hungry. The thirsty. The legendary. Some people actually think the Wright Brothers perfected human flight. Around here, we all know better. Carl Howelsen turned Steamboat into a playground, skis into wings, and mustaches into an art form. His adventurous spirit is our inspiration - and Carl’s Tavern is a place for adventurous spirits to call home. Here, the hospitality is genuine, the beer is cold, and the food is made from scratch. So come as you are, make yourself at home, and share a few of your own legendary stories. Just don’t try to one-up Carl; you’ll hurt yourself.
