When we tasted our food, it was like, "OMG, this is SOOOO good." The French Toast, the omelette, the coffee. All yummy. You will like.

We ate dinner here, on our second night in Durango, based on recommendations of some locals we met on the train who told us they go several times per month. We had passed it the previous night and admired the menu and decor. We arrived without reservations (on a Saturday night) and were promptly seated. Our server was very friendly... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Chimayo! It's on Main St, making it convenient to walk to/from the various shops, train station, hotels, etc., in the historic downtown area. My mom and I wanted a lighter dinner, so she had the Southwest chopped salad with chicken - extremely moist and tasty chicken! I ordered the steak tacos, and they did... More

A wonderful experience from start to finish. The server had excellent suggestions. For a drink he suggested a fun tasty drink made with lemongrass and ginger. For an appetizer we had a squash "fondue"...excellent. My entree was a stuffed poblano chile that was NOT deep fried and very tasty. I wish we had a place like this where we lived!

We were seated and greeted promptly, served water while we were waiting for our cocktails (which took longer than expected) the foursome that was seated after us had appetizers before our drinks came, but it was all worth the wait, luckily we weren't in a hurry and our food and beverages hit the spot, we even topped off the night... Best meal we had in Durango! The mac & cheese was one of the best anywhere & the serving size was sufficiently generous that it made for a wonderful picnic lunch the next day. Salads were also very good & generously sized. Service was efficient & friendly.

Group of 6, great apps and small plates but $20 for 3 scallops and $15 for a glass of wine with a really small pour? Hmmmm. I was disappointed. Nice atmosphere. Quick service, though don't ask them to split checks. They don't like that. There are plenty of other options on Main Street. One and done.

Got to Durango after being in the car for 7 hours, tired and hungry. It was a bit pricey for what we had but the flavors were great. The soup of the day was good but a cup was $6! Also got a small plate of scallops (3). It was served if a bed of fresh roasted vegetables. Tasty but... More

We stopped in Durango on a 2500 motorcycle trip through the western US. Loved the town and this restaurant was a real bonus find. The drinks and meal were great, service attentive and the bill sensible...Well worth a visit!

Description
Chimayo Stone Fired Kitchen is a contemporary American bistro with a southwestern flair. Fresh salads, creative small plates, artisanal pizzas, and fire-roasted steaks, chicken and seafood are prepared in twin 600+ degree stone hearth ovens in an open kitchen. The Owners have restored the interior of the historic Century Building on Main Avenue, revealing turn-of-the century Carnegie steel support beams, the original maple hardwood floor and decorative tin ceiling tiles, and the original brick wall. These historical elements, along with the expo kitchen, rollup windows, and 35-foot curved bar, create an urban industrial loft setting for a unique Durango dining experience.
