It is a dark, underground place with a full bar, and a cool environment, now an extension of the Irish Embassy Pub.

The only thing about this place is that there are no windows. It is in the basement. I think the staff is awesome and it's good that food can be served down there, but the whole basement thing isn't the most attractive. However, they do have some great artwork for sale on the walls from artists and that is always... More

Passing through Durango, popped in for some coffee after dinner and discovered some local folk/bluegrass musicians meet here to play on Wednesdays. The Steaming Bean has apparently moved across the street and merged with the pub. Just walk down the stairs where you see their sign on the window.

Downtown Durango is gorgeous. Totally worth coming just to see. Good coffee, free refills, good wifi and stand up work stations. Everything I look for in a coffee shop. Plus if I wanted sit down and do some reading in some soft seating, they have that too. Only thing missing was gluten free pastries. But hat was actually a good... More

Nice place, the owner is a nice lady, the coffee is good, and it has a nice local artist vibe inside.

The atmosphere here is really great and the first time I came I had a delicious Americano. But, the second time I came, I had the worst Americano I've ever had. Very weak, no coffee frothiness on top (I'm not sure what the term is for that), and looked more like black tea. It tasted like they left the old... More

Steaming bean is tied for the best coffee in Durango. Alternative urban vibe. Popular with the free wi-fi crowd, but not a lot of couches. Good stop before work for locals. Arrive early for some of the food items. Open early.

I haven't been at The Bean since the new owners took over but I imagine it is the same. They make great coffees. Pastery is brought in from the better bakeries in town. They are good. Sandwiches, too. You can sit there, read the papers and/or do your computer work. No rush - take all the time you need. I... More
