This imitation of a neighborhood bar and grill is owned by an esteemed Colorado chef Frank Bonanno, who also runs upscale Mizuna with lines out the door. Lou's serves "down-home" food like mac & cheese, fried chicken and pigs in a blanket. French onion soup $6, was heavy with Gruyere cheese and authentic seeming onions. A Hogshead black porter beer... So good! We stopped in today for lunch and were disappointed that they were serving brunch....man, were we wrong! I got the Luca omelet which had bacon, cheddar and tomatoes. It was awesome! My daughter had the little farmhouse and loved it; my other daughter had the little cake which was a mickey shaped pancake and it was great too.... More

It would be easy to drive by Lou and not consider going in. It is very unassuming from the outside. However, this was one of the best comfort food meals I have ever had. The restaurant had many families and neighborhood folks when we arrived. The décor inside is as unpretentious as the outside, but very comfortable. Our waiter, Matt,... More

Would highly recommend the fish sandwich. Very well cooked and seasoned on a very tasty bun. The local beer selection was good but kind of snobby at the same time. Price was higher than it should have been which is why I ranked 4 instead of 5. I would definitely eat here again though.

Went for Sunday Brunch, with a reasonable wait. Wait staff seemed to be unaffected by the full crowd, to their credit. They were very friendly, timely, and professional, and the food was well prepared and of high quality, as well. Not surprising, since Lou's Food Bar is one of Frank Bonanno's restaurants.

If there was a ZERO stars option I would have selected it. We had a group of 7 and were waiting for the last two to arrive. They told is they couldn't seat us until all seven of us had arrived. Our drinks took almost 30 minutes to arrive and our food...AN HOUR AND A HALF. We were all so... More

I recently took my parents here for brunch as they were passing through Denver. They loved it. The food was very, very flavorful with a great amount of spice. My sandwich was loaded with hot peppers, just the way I like it. The make-your-own Bloody Mary bar was awesome with enough items to give you a good selection without being... More

Chicken and waffles to die for. Varying levels of heat. Bloody Mary's spicey as well and delicious . Come early . Lines are consistent as is the crowd. Not fancy , crowded and noisey. And worth it all. Price is fairly reasonable . Grits are just mediocre . Seems to have a taste of sugar in them maybe and too... More

Description
Lou"s Food Bar is a neighborhood spot that serves American country food with a French twist. Lou's is intended to be the little sister to Mizuna—Frank Bonanno's flagship restaurant. While Mizuna is high-end American food with strong French influences, Lou's Food Bar is a more playful offspring—still maintaining that French influences, but a little livelier, more casual—a cost-friendly neighborhood venue that strives to offer excellence in both fare and service. Lou's Food Bar focus on fresh ingredients, at the peak of their flavor profile, simply prepared and beautifully rendered.
