When you go for the six-course meal -- maybe you'll do this once a year, once every five years -- the courses keep coming. It's expensive, so save your pennies. It's filling, so don't come full. The descriptions as each course is laid down (better with the wines which have their own narrative) -- are theatrical, engaging, thorough, and expertly... More

We spend a lot of time in Boulder and have enjoyed many of the local restaurants. The dishes at Black Cat are very special. Rather than 7 course dinner experience with wine pairing ( next time ) we opted to do basic appetizers , entrees and dessert as we came in hungry and felt a hearty entree would be best.... More

We paid $72 pp and the tasting menu was very good. Since it changes frequently, I won't comment on particulars except to say it was very high quality, interesting dishes and a spectacular dessert. The service is absolutely perfect. I felt completely welcomed and pampered. My reason for not giving it five stars is that the wines are seriously overpriced.

We enjoyed the chef's tasting menu with premium wine pairing. Every plate was excellent - well presented and paired with the perfect wine. Service was attentive and engaging from the greeting at the door, inquiries on our preferences and the presentations of each of the 6 courses.

In a town with a LOT of great restaurants, Black Cat is one of the very best. This is a place where great food is served with pride by people who care about great food and a wonderful restaurant experience. And they do all this in a warm, charming and relatively informal environment -- not the least bit of stuffiness.... More

The overall experience wasn't as expected, considering the prices. I don't mind spending big if the experience is there. The food was tasty enough, but my suggestion to the owners is to reduce the size of portions, and prices as well. I'd rather have a small appetizer and smaller entree , I guess the big hang up is the pricing... More

I extended a business trip in Boulder so my wife could join me for a long weekend. We were looking for some place special on her first night in town and Black Cat didn't disappoint. We opted for the 6 course dinner where you give your server your food preferences and lt the chef surprise you. What fun it was... More

We had a very unpleasant dining experience in this restaurant...probably our worst meal ever in Boulder. I love the idea of the farm to table and they have their own farm, etc. but product very disappointing, One of our party requested a vegetable plate, was served a bowl of undercooked, un seasoned, tasteless vegetables for $27. Salad boring, and lentil... More

The food here is fresh and wonderful. The ambiance is very nice and could be romantic, depending on what you call romantic. There are not many romantic spots here in Boulder, at least not to my finding. Wish there were.

We returned to Black Cat hoping to repeat a fabulous meal of last year and this one exceeded all of our expectations. The staff is exceedingly friendly and knowledgeable. The food deserves its own dictionary definition! Our nearly three-hour dining event rates as one of the best we've enjoyed, with every morsel savored. While many patrons order off the menu,... More
