Small french spot in Basalt--outside patio delightful, interior seating a bit close. French style with French chef/owner. Classic continental cooking and menu. Quality cooking.

Visited last week and had dinner with a party of five. We were greeted outside by a woman who apparently was drunk. "Her sister was the hostess" that was a little sad actually We did not have reservations and there was some hesitation on offering...More

Cafe Bernard was sort of a stumble in for brunch on this last trip. Basalt is a small community who's primary support mechanisms seem to be fly-fishing and access to the insanity of Aspen and surrounds. Lovely place - very chill. Bernard's sits right in...More

We had a dinner with about 18 people at Café Bernard. The food was great and the service excellent. We also had breakfast the next day with 7 people arriving at different times. The café handled the changing crowd easily.

We went to Cafe Bernard for Sunday morning breakfast. As always, the food was very good but they had one waitress for a full inside and full outside seating. The poor girl was running around trying to do everything by herself. They definitely need more...More

AMAZING cinnamon bun-like-croissants, you MUST TRY THEM, they are delicious and Bernard only sells up to 4 per customer, or you must tell him in advance (and he will oblige). All the food is great as Bernard is a great Chef. You must go there...More

I have been eating at Café Bernard for almost twenty years. The consistency of their menu matches the deliciousness of their dishes. Classic French cuisine with a local feel.

allergic to beef? dont worry about bernard, move out of Arkansas and move to san Francisco. i'm sure if you called in advance, they would make appropriate arrangements, or tell you to get stuffed. literally, a 50/50 call.

Description
Cafe Bernard is a cozy neighborhood cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1990. With just eight tables--and a few more on the sidewalk during the warmer months--we hope you won't mind a short wait if we are busy. We use the highest quality ingredients and support our local farmers and food purveyors. Our menu reflects the French influence of owner Bernard Moffroid with buttery croissants and omelets in the mornings and a wide selection of flavorful meals served at dinner. The wine list is currently featuring the chateaux of Bordeaux along with many fine West Coast vintners. Reservations suggested for dinner.
