We were starving and the menu offered so many great choices that we struggled to choose. However, after it was over we were a bit disappointed. For example if you order garlic fries expect to get fries with your garlic. The garlic was tossed on top in clumps and no one likes soggy french fries. The apple pie didn't taste... More

This is comfort food at its best. The menu is full of yummy choices. Salad is always great and fresh. Best ranch ever! Nightly specials are always fabulous. The stuffed chicken is my fave! Super kid's meals at great prices. Real food. Scrumptious desserts...blackberry pie is outstanding.

I have been eating in this Black Bear for several years. They do breakfast the biggest best pancakes and biscuits. But of late it has been my goto location in Tulare for dinner. Great pot roast, or tri-tip dinners. I know the Chicken/Country fried steak is legendary, but my last one here was so-so with too much breading and not... More

While traveling US 99 I look forward to eating at least once per trip at a Black Bear Diner. Known for ample portions of good food and warm breakfasts in a comfortable atmosphere, its always an enjoyable experience. Wait, not always anymore! Being a solo traveler, I would expect a 2-person table (not a counter fan, sorry folks). I always... More

I asked for an extra tortilla with the expensive breakfast. I was charged 3 for it with out being told there was an extra charge. The next time I asked for a bowl of gravy with my breakfast. They charged me an additional 3 to the 13 breakfast! Will not return

I was told this was a good place to eat and it is. I'd say it has a laid back easy going atmosphere and would be good for family's. The food is tasty without being spectacular but the service was good and I'd eat here again.

I'd grade them a C+. Food was OK but nothing to rave about. I had the corned beef hash. Hash was good, not great. 3 chunks of fat included? Hash browns were average. Eggs were cooked as ordered. Biscuit was good. Service was better than the food. My friends both had the Rueben. It looked ok but they did not... More

This is still our favorite Black Bear. The service is great and so is the food. I had the shrimp and steak dinner and my wife had the turkey dinner.
