I am sorry and happy to say the Shingle Shack is no longer open. There are other places to eat in Shingletown. The pizza parlor, Reed's Market, Shingletown Store has sandwiches. At Black Butte ROAD there is Papa Casey's it is a bit high in price. The coffee shop by the auto parts has great sandwiches. We of course feel... More

The place is nasty and food is horrible, when it was open. Hasn't been open in ages. I would not waste my time ever again.

The building has been here for years. The current owners converted it to a Mexican menu. The food is generally OK, but nothing special. They ventured into pancakes a few years ago and obviously didn't know what they were. The three pancakes measure about 3/8" total. In other words they were crepes. Very flat, tasteless. So stick to the Mexican... More

We were drawn in by the sign advertising Mexican Food. We're always up for Mexican breakfast. Our first impression upon entering the restaurant was that they had inadequate kitchen ventilation. We could smell the kitchen's gas burners. The place seemed a bit like a greasy spoon, but we were still interested in dining there. Sometimes the best food can be... More

You can not count on this restraunt being open when you are traveling thru. And if you do find it open, you will notice a lack of cars in it's parking lot. This is your first clue. It is the only sit down restraunt in this area, but the food does leave alot to be desired. Not very good at... More

VERY friendly people there, we stopped for a late lunch on our way from the Redwoods to Lassen. Tasty Mexican food, we had one chicken and one pork enchilada, and they were fabulous. Really good little joint

The screen door at the evterence was locked and they had an attitude about having to come unlock it. Seated ourselves and got no water or chips. The menues were handed to us by someone who streched across the next table. We left when we observed the chef drinking beer in the kitchen.

This place is awful. There is a small grocery store nearby, and you would be well advised to grab a can of beans there rather than eat here. It's primarily Mexican food, but the red sauce is canned, lukewarm, and terrible. The waiter was too busy putting sugar packets in a container to wait on us right away. He was... More
