I would'n call it a Mexican restaurant, it's really a sports bar with giant margaritas. The food is really good, the margaritas are awesome, good place to Watch people walking on the Promenade, maybe the music is too loud.

Pros: - Good drink specials - Drinks aren't too weak - Food is decent - it's good, but it's not spectacular either - Atmosphere is fun, especially if you dine outside or in the summer Cons: - Service is a little slow, but they're mostly friendly - They were playing weird country music when we dined, which doesn't fit well... Picked this spot to eat since it had sports on the tv. The food was really good. Not traditional Mexican but tasty. I got the Carne asada fries and the steak was delicious and a huge portion. Fun decor and atmosphere.

Cabo Cantina has a fun decor and a great space for people watching on the promenade! The margaritas are served in giant cups and all premixed, so if you want something special you have specify that you don't want the stuff that was mixed already. The appetizer was tasty! Critique is that music was the music you would hear at... More

Busy and (apparently) popular: Far to keen to take our card (for a party of two), to our horror, we caught our waitress 'Alex' and the bar staff openly sipping our drinks before bringing them to us. When confronted she had the front to claim they were only "smelling" our drinks.

Great bar to people watch and listen to the buskers. We spent a few afternoons at this place drinking margaritas and eating nachos. Great place.

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
