Prompt, friendly service and a nicely presented, tasty meal made this a very nice evening. Trying to watch our weight, we shared a small order of chicken-mushroom soup, the steamed fish house special, and an order of bok choy and mushrooms—all very flavorful and filling. We didn't order rice, but the meal came with it as well. Wine is available,... More

My wife had a mini Burroughs High School reunion dinner at Madam Lu's for 12 people. She personally selected the menu and was on hand to see that we were properly taken care of. It was my wife's birthday and she let us bring a cake early in the day and she kept it under refrigeration until it was served... More

I write primarily for tourists and since this is tourist season, for any of you looking for a Chinese restaurant in Santa Barbara, ANY of the others is much, much better than this one. I honestly don't know how they survive in this town or why they have any business at all, really. Service was quick enough but diffident and... More

The food at Madam Lu's has been consistent, reasonably priced, and they will create more authentic if you ask. The owner is really wonderful.

My standard order is Won Ton Soup with Beef Fried Rice. Take-out is quick, and the staff is always incredibly friendly.

My wife and I just had the lunch buffet at Madam Lu's. In general, it gets about a three on a scale of 1 to 10. Those items that are dipped in batter and fried had way to much gooey batter on them and the rest of the items, with the exception of the broccoli beef, had little or no... More

The last couple times I've ordered food there, I was not impressed. It wasn't terrible but I would not go out of my way if there's another choice near by. It was greasier than I would have liked and flavor was too bland/general for me. There have been times where I had some tasty dishes but somewhat inconsistent.

Food is different from what you would expect. For instance, cashew chicken, very small diced chicken with only a few types of veg and corn? In a dark brown sauce? Really.

The menu seems to have had authentic food but since I was by myself I did not go for the a la cart. The "meal" had plenty of food and tasted good for a very reasonable price.
