Edomasa has the advantage of being off the main drag of downtown located in the much quieter upper State Street area. The owner is awesome and makes friendly visits to tables throughout his shifts. Their sushi is consistently pretty good, some excellent rolls and others rather mediocre. Good number/variety of sake to pour and great deal on a pitcher of... More

Went here upon recommendation by hotel staff. Was great value for money. About $40 for two of us including sashimi which is good. We didn't drink though. Some of the sushi has minced fish in it which isn't ideal but I guess that's what makes it cheaper. Don't go for a romantic meal, go to eat and get full. The... More

Edomasa is open after 6P. Be there soon afterwards as it fills up very fast, a popular place. The food is plentiful and very, very good. I think purist may balk a little but we were very satisfies with food and service (thanks Kazumi). All staff were very friendly and service was expedient. Great plum wine.

Excellent sushi from a twenty+ year establishment. Try their own creations as well as the standard fair. Locals will often bring in their own catch for preparation.

Only place I could find open near midnight. As last resort, it was fine. Its Japanese food that is cheapened. The wait staff didn't seem with it. The sushi bar guys were the best ... on top of everything and giving the orders.

Our friends took us out to a surprise dinner, and I was surprised. I live on Maui. I have had great sushi, and this was up there. Fresh sushi and authentic Japanese dishes. The unfiltered sake was onolicious! I will be going back when in SB again.

After reading multiple five-star review, my husband and I decided to try this place. And what a disappointment it was. Food that people are raving about is below average. Ingredients, preparation, presentation - all this deserves no more than three stars. Gyoza was frozen and then fried. I just felt that I could have bought a package of gyoza from... More

People in Santa Barbara generally believe that their restaurants, hotels, and even the air you breathe is better here. Edomasa is another example of an severely overhyped sushi restaurant. The Ngiri was good, everything else was subpar. The fish served in the rolls are the worst cuts blended (in a blender) to mask their origin. The fish is not as... More

In my opinion the best Japanese restaurant in Santa Barbara, as they have a great sushi chef. Love the food and sushi rolls are great!

I've been dining at Edomasa for about 15 years now. It's less than a mile from my house and it's my go to place for sushi in particular and Japanese cuisine in general. The staff is warm and they know their menu back and forth! The sushi comes out fast and they don't skimp on the sakana! I'd recommend this... More
