This place is very hole in the wall in style. What it lacks in fancy decor it makes up for in food quality and value. The tortillas are made from scratch and all of the food is delicious. Being from the East Coast it was nice to try next level Mexican food while in CA and the Taqueria was my... More

We loved this restaurant for lunch despite the pouring rain! Luckily the line wasn't too long so we could wait inside without our umbrellas. Other Californians recommended we get 2-3 orders per person so we had plenty of food. The dishes were amazing, especially the specials...Tamal with Dover sole (yum!) and chile relleno with creme sauce. Cash only and then... More

I believe the only reason Super-Rica is well known is because Julia Child mentioned it in an interview a long time ago. Food is okay, portions are SMALL and wait is long. If you want a good experience try El Sitio on Salinas street not to far away. Menu is good, portions are generous, quality great and service friendly. You... More

Basic, simple, and to the point tacos. Homemade corn tortillas are the show stealer and make this spot absolutely worth the wait. If it was good enough for Julia, it is for anyone else. This isn't your typical over done taco spot though. The taco comes naked and you just find a good salsa to top it with, and really,... More

Great authentic Mexican food. Old school and delicious. Beware of the long lines but it will move quickly. Everything is delicious but I love the #6, 7 & 8. The specials menu always has great stuff like the shredded beef tacos and chicken enchiladas. It's no frills, cash only but consistently great.

On our way to Santa Barbara's State Street, we stopped at La Super-Rica Taqueria for lunch. We found the staff to be very friendly, the authentic Mexican food very tasty and unique, and the overall prices reasonable. Only cash is accepted. The home made tortilla chips though amazing took quite a long time to arrive and our guacamole was long... More

I read a Newspaper review by a Professional once who said he didn't understand how a restaurant could have lousy food and yet have people hanging out the doors for years...the only thing he could figure out was that some places people were just comfortable going to??? WELL that is La Super Rica!!! We read reviews of this place a... More

La Super-Rica is a Santa Barbara institution - they told me they opened in 1980 (36 years ago!). I have yet to find Mexican food anywhere like this. Order a bunch of things on your first trip - spending a little extra is well worth getting to sample all of the different styles and flavors they offer.

We were lured here because we are Julia Child's fans, but we were highly disappointed. First it is a hike out of city centre, and then you have to queue for 30+ minutes before ordering your cantina food. In a cantina wait has to be short, but not here. Afterwards a wait for food, that you ordered with very limited... More

We based our visit on Julia Child's recommendation from sometime ago... Don't be fooled by that old date, just maybe better than when she visited.
