The Rose Tree is very structured about it reservations. The door opens at one, and guests are seated after a short wait in the very treasure filled gift shop. Take the time to browse. The front garden is very worn and faded because of our 4 year drought. We don't live in English weather. I'm sure after all this current... More

Just love browsing in here, lots of British items in beautifully laid out shop. Also they offer tea, but you have to book, so didn't do this here.

I celebrated my birthday at the Rose Tree Cottage this year. The historic house is wonderful, the owners are welcoming and the tea is delicious. They have their own blend of black tea that is so smooth and wonderful. Their traditional tea sandwiches, scone & sweets are always so good! If I lived in Southern California I would stop in... We chose the Rose Tree Cottage for its traditional English afternoon tea, and we had a lovely time. It started off somewhat less than promising; we arrived about 10 minutes early for a 1:00 tea, and as the door was locked we had to wait outside in the somewhat tired looking front garden. Once we were allowed in (along with... More

My wife was in Pasadena and drove past this place and thought she would call in and get me some goodies as I am originally from England. She purchased two brands of biscuits which were both out of date. The Jammie Dodgers were 5 months past their best and the Ginger Nuts were 3 months past their date. She also... More

We celebrated my Mom's birthday with my sisters today and really enjoyed the food and service from our server. She was friendly and very kind. The only complaint we had is that there are two cats roaming around the eating area and indoors. Not only did we think that not becoming to an eating establishment but also a great inconvenience... I used to visit RTC at its old location 20 years ago with my mother and wanted to go again in memory of her. Unfortunately, it's not at all the same place it once was. The grounds are no longer beautifully kept, the shop area is horribly cramped, and the food was below average. My friend had a salad rather... More

I can't believe I haven't written a review of this wonderful place before but better late than never. This is the only real English tea room that can be found on US shores. The owners, Edmund and Mary Fry, have created a place where you can find a brief respite from the world. They always greeted us warmly and made... More

The owner is rude, the food is awful, very over priced and above all the place Smells of urine. It is a want to be English High Tea but comes comes off phony. We were warned to arrive early, found the door locked and were made to wait at least 5-7 minutes outside. We're seated late and the room was... More

I LOVE Mary & Edmond Fry! When you come to RTC, it is like going to their home. You call ahead for tea as they plan for your arrival. Snow, the kitty, greats you and hopes for some cream with tea. Made fresh each day, they serve wonderful tea sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, and yummy treats for dessert. Tea is... More
