I almost never bother to leave negative reviews, but I had such a poor experience at Afloat that I really have to do so. The service was friendly enough, but the food was barely passable. I ordered the Sushi teriyaki lunch set. The price was very low, but so was the quality. The paper-thin piece of salmon was overcooked, making... More

Went there solo for lunch on a Sunday afternoon during a conference. Rolls and sushi were edible, but not very good? Chef's creations were not interesting. Plates went around too long on boats to feel they remain fresh. Service was very bad despite the light load. Will not return.

One of the few non-chain restaurants remaining in Old Pasadena, they use the simple concept of Sushi delivered to the tables on the back of a boat, riding in water. Sushi is average.

This is one of our favorite locations to go for sushi. The choices are great. You can either take from the boats floating past you or from a menu. We have tried both options and didn't find anything we didn't like. The service is great. This is good for a night out with friends or just a night out with... More

Unique style - you sit around and yes I mean around the sushi bar and there is a channel of water running around the same sushi bar. The chef's make their creations and place them on different colored plates in little boats floating in the water channel. So as the food floats by you - just pick up what you... More

I have been to Afloat sushi a few times, this time I ducked in for a quick sushi dinner while traveling solo. Sat at the sushi bar and tried several sushi plates and some rolls. The sushi was very good and tasty, the rolls were more on the exotic side and non-traditional, not like one would see in Japan (this... More

I eat at Afloat every time I can while in California. It is such a unique idea with the sushi chef in the middle putting out the individual servings . The boats continue around so the patrons can take what they want and pay accordingly. This last trip I especially liked the cucumber salad. The problem is when you order... More

We stumbled upon Afloat Sushi after discovering that the sushi restaurant we were looking for wasn't open yet. What a nice surprise it turned out to be! The quality of kaiten (conveyor-belt) sushi places varies widely, here in the U.S., and in Japan as well. I have to say this was one of the better kaiten venues I've found here... More

This is one of my favorite sushi restaraunts in Pasadena. The individual plates float in front of you but the chefs are very quick to make quite generous and delicious platters according to order. I enjoy the healthy spicy salmon salad and the yellow tale tuna.

Went here after an already heavy evening. The service was excellent and the sushi some of the best that I have ever eaten. The chef was especially superb and spent time showing us the finer points of sushi prep.
