generous portions, well seasoned, salsa is awesome, busy at times for good reason, worth the wait, serves beer, fresh made chips, multiple choices of wet burritos, two could eat well for under 10 bucks if you choose right and lots to choose from

Went here as it has such great reviews on here and on google review and myself and my husband love Mexican food. Unfortunatly we think it is overrated. The food was fine - nothing amazing, the service was fine - not bad but not great, the place was basic and not impressively clean. The toilets we awful!! I would not... More

Great value and good mexican. The only feedback would be they didn't have many options for vegetarians. My husband enjoyed the fish tacos. Loved the appetizers and service was quick and friendly. Excellent guacamole and chips.

Quick service mexican food. Large menu. Standard fake bricks on the lower wall and the usual saltillo imitation tiles on the floor Reasonably clean. Nice staff. Clean. Great counter service...Order and get your chips and salsa as you go to sit down. Given the name, I was excited to have carnitas---disappointing. Carnitas was a dry but fish taco/shrimp taco were... I went to eat here based on yelp reviews and was not at all disappointed. There was a special of 3 tacos and soda for $5.50. The tacos were great - I had the chicken, ground beef and shredded beef. The shredded beef taco was the best of the three. The salsa - both green and red were very good... More

Went to Newport Pier for the boat show. A block away from the main drag, a hole in the wall joint, is this busy little sit down Mexicanish atmosphere. Though the food is good, I thought the quality of the ingredients could be better, the price reflects it. Wanted a wholesome authentic seafood cerviche, but most of it was made... More

The best part about LA is definitely the Mexican food. Wherever you go, you can go into any restaurant and expect awesome quality Mexican staples. At Carnitas, we had a couple of ish tacos and a gigantic pulled beef burrito. both were really good to eat, especially my favourite fish tacos! Small and dedicated outfit, serves local people, great stop... More

The food is excellent. The old guy that runs the register has an attitude problem. He is rude, unhelpful, and basically doesn't give a crap. I won't be going there any time soon. As I sat there for 40 minutes you did not bother to speak to me one time. You didn't bother to ask if I needed help or... More

I ate Machaca tacos religiously here for years! It's not on the menu but ask for a machaca taco on a flour tortilla and you will be in heaven! Make sure to put the green tomatillo salsa on them. I've taken people here that know good food and they still talk about machaca tacos 6 years later! Surf all morning... More

Imagine an inexpensive, if very casual, restaurant of any kind in Newport Beach! A short walk from the Lido Theater and Lido shopping, right on Newport Blvd. Wide range of complete dinners $6-$7 plus drink (sometimes included). My plate came with three different sauces and my husband's had two still different sauces, always a good sign. The owner?/Manager did everything... More
