The place is very nice and the staff is very nice. The waiting time was a little bit long for a Sunday night and they didn't inform us. We have two young kids! Except that, the food was nice!

Yes it's a diner, yes it's typical diner food, and yes it's really good. Something about a good hearty breakfast, or meatloaf for lunch....in the mountains....can't be beat. There's a string of these in Northern Cal but this is my favorite.

The food was great. Atmosphere cute. Nice that it was the original of this chain. Service started slow, but once waitress realized we were waiting was very attentive. Sounds like restaurant is popular with the locals.

We were so looking forward to visiting the original restaurant. Had my Black Bear Diner passport in hand and planned on buying some type of Bear as a keepsake. Well, they didn't have any bears that said... Original Black Bear Diner and I didn't see a t-shirt either. 😐 The food was good, typical Black Bear that's why we love... More

This restaurant is really a last resort for my fiancé and I. The food isn't bad and neither is the service but nothing really stands out to make this dinning experience above average.

Very crowded, but was worth the wait. Food was plentiful and could easily be split. Parking was a little limited. Overall good food and service

Whenever we find a Black Bear Diner we have to stop knowing that they have an incredible selection of entrees and it doesn't hurt that my daughter can always find something she will eat! The portions were so big that we had to push ourselves away from the table....you will have another meal as leftovers when you leave! Service was... More

It's great to visit the Original Black Bear Diner - Mt Shasta and to see it keep the great service, food selection and prices. I have been to many Black Bear Diners, Mt Shasta location has always been my favorite. First visit here was in the 1970's. Great to visit again

We had been up to Bunney Flats to see Mt Shasta, which seemed to have disappeared (it was raining and very low cloud). Passed Black Bear Diner so decided to call in for lunch. Had a great meal and excellent service. Our waiter was very helpful and advised my husband that the sandwich he picked has a very hot sauce.... More

I first found out about this diner when I lived in Torrance, CA and found out as I was up here in Mt. Shasta, last June 2015, that this is the 1st ORGINAL Black Bear Diner that was established! Went here for my morning & lunch meals when I had a chance! Great portions and can be a good long... More
