The food is home style Japanese Cooking and it's excellent. There are many healthy choices and everything is fresh and delicious. They always have fresh fish to choose from and the soups are outstanding. The fried stuffed tofu, although probably not the healthiest, is so very yummy.

Not a sushi place, but they have nice Japanese food. I enjoyed the chicken & shrimp combination and will definitely eat here again.

Gombei is a stop on the wAt to the movies. While they often have some kinds of sushi, it is not a sushi restaurant. Their noodle soups are piping hot and delicious. Specials of the day are written on a blackboard. Only draw back is their deep skinny parking lot next to the restaurant. You can easily get trapped!

You definitely get value for money here, with a variety of noodle, rice, sashimi and fried dishes. The Bento box was good, and filling, but at the same time I was jealous of my colleagues' bowls of udon noodles.

I have heard of this restaurant for years from many Japanese friends, and I had the pleasure of dining there yesterday. The atmosphere is friendly and busy. Lots of windows make it bright and peaceful. The food is delightful! I am not fond of fried food, so I avoided the items that were fried. I had the Chicken Udon which... More

Decent home style Japanese cooking not fine dining. For $12 you get a fried pork cutlet , grilled fish, curried potato croquette, fried surimi, salad, miso soup with bits of tofu, onions and potato, and rice. Free tea. Nice modern interiors. Difficult parking. Cheaper than McDonalds.

Was excited to try this place based on the reviews -- we were not impressed. The Chicken Cutlet was cooked in the same oil as the fish -- so it tasted more fishy than it tasted like chicken. The sushi selection was very limited - and again, strong fishy flavor (more than other places we have tried) and not excellent... More

Authentic Japanese hone style food that is delivered quickly in great portions! Udon is amazing and their other dishes are of equal quality! You will come back again and again!

I've been coming to Gombei for years. Their chicken teriyaki is one of the best I've ever had. It's very soft and moist. And the sauce makes it great as well. Besides chicken teriyaki, I often order the "special" of the day. The "special" is often a combination of tempura, croquette, sashimi, or mackerel. It's very good as well. The... More

We felt as if we were in a wonderful little family run place in Japan. If you want an alternative to expensive sushi restaurants, but love Japanese food, try Gombei. The decor is very basic but the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, many families dining with children, many regulars greeted with recognition by the staff. There is a white board... More
