It's not gourmet food, but the fish tacos are excellent and inexpensive. The shrimp dishes are also good. Nice predictable good Mexican food.

Mexican dishes. Plain but good fare. Carne asade (grilled steak, chopped) was good and comes with choice of flour or corn tortillas, rice and beans. Others tried enchiladas, tacos, etc... Enjoyable.

El Tarasco used to be great. It is now just good. If you are in Venice and planning a walk on the Pier or on the boardwalk, stop at El Tarasco for a fast bite. The tacos are good. The service is not great and the place is far from spotless, but it is fine. the prices are okay. Don't... More

It's a small place but with big flavour and service. The meals were huge as were the drinks and the service was with a smile. Great value for money

Tarasco may not be the sexiest restaurant in the world but when you are hungry for Mexican cuisine Tarasco is a Mexican diner heaven. Nothing fancy, nothing cool about Tarasco - except the food is delicious in a short order diner kind of way. Their breakfast dishes, their salsa, their special hot sauces - all of it is heavenly.

Came here for takeout for family dinner. I am a huge fan of their #2, a cheese enchilada, rice and beans. Spouse loves the carne asada burritos. Food was hot and ready when we arrived. Delicious chips and salsa. Service with a smile. Reasonable prices. Yum.

I go here on ocassion. The food is okay, and is popular with workers and locals. Very casual, close seating. Nothing special.

We stopped by for lunch and had an enjoyable experience. Great value on the Shrimp Tacos... Five grilled shrimp and two tortillas made for a satisfying lunch! my dining partner enjoyed the carne asana plate... Plenty of enjoyable food!

I have been to El Tarasco for a number of times, and every time I get delicious meals. Those who are into Mexican cuisine will like it. My favorite here is tostada beef salad but I have also tried carne asada, soups, chicken enchiladas, shrimp quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, Soups - all very delicious. Besides, the food is inexpensive.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
