We were a party of six on a Saturday night. Happy they take reservations - seems like a good spot for very large groups. While food was god it's mostly standard fare. We had a very nice waitress and enjoyed ourselves. Food was good but nothing I would run back for. We were in a pinch and needed a reservation-and... More

I've been to other Fornaio restaurants, including the Irvine area. I didn't feel the dishes were as good as the other restaurants and service was just ok. And the fact management was having a management meeting in the middle of the restaurant at dinner time with scowls on the face....really??? Not sure I would visit again.

We make the effort to visit Il Fornaio as often as we can. We enjoy the food, which is consistently good and the well staffed service. On our last visit, we asked our server Jose why the service was so good. He said that he felt that they received excellent training which is likely true but we also noticed that... More

So happy to have stumbled upon this wonderful Italian restaurant for a mid day lunch/dinner while on vacation in the Southern California area. The food was delicious and they served more than generous portions, our quartino of an imported blend red wine was perfect. The only thing that we could say that we were not a fan of was the... Il Fornaio @Manhattan Beach is a great choice. The table bread, the olive oil, the balsamic vinaigrette, the salads, the main dishes -- they are all so tasty.

While we have eaten lunch and dinner at this Il Fornaio, it's their Happy Hour which is so great and so reasonable. Hours are usually M-F from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., but get there early to get a seat in the front of the restaurant (near the bar area).

We had a nice evening at Il Fornaio; however, the food and service were nothing to write home about. The service was just OK, had to track down waiter to get additional olive oil for our bread and the restaurant was not busy. The best thing we can say about the food is the warm fresh bread served with quality... More

This is a fun place to have dinner with friends. Good atmosphere and plenty of space to feel that you can have a personal conversation and not feel folks on top of you. The pasta with shrimp, scallops and clams was excellent.

I stay at the towne place suites at this off airport location because the rates are good. It's a bit of a luster less neighborhood. However, the food and service at il fornaio add grace and glamour to this travel stop. It's in a funny strip mall off rosecrans near an Office Depot and a trader joes. And it is... More

Description
Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il
Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.
