Breakfast is always great at Black Bear. This one is no exception. It's easy off the freeway and easy back on. The portions are HUGE. Come with a big appetite and be prepared to ask for a take home bag. Enjoy whatever meal you're there for. We always do.

While in the Madera area, we went to the Black Bear Diner for what might be called comfort food. Black Bear diners are known for generous portions, and while the offerings at this location are generous the food is good but not outstanding. During our visit I had a cup of vegetable soup, hot and nicely stocked with veggies. My... More

I went here for dinner tonight because of so many positive reviews on TA and it was great! All o wanted was just a sandwich (patty melt) and it was cooked just right! The real star of the show was my server Jessica! I would hire her away from this place if I owned a competing restaurant! She's a rockstar!

My daughter and I visited the restaurant in January, and My husband and myself visited in September. We were greeted with smile and friendly service.

So, I'm trying to trim down a bit. The Black Bear Diner normally has very large portions so I was apprehensive about stopping in. But the waitress took good care of me and let me order one poached egg on dry wheat toast and a small bowl of fruit. I'm not sure if there was a menu item for my... More

Friendly folks, huge portions, decent food, decent prices. More food than we could eat at dinner. Also helpful that it shared the parking lot of our hotel.

You feel very welcomed as soon as you arrive at this restaurant, whether you are a single like I was, a couple, a family, or a huge group of friends, like those seated near me. I have never been disappointed in any meal I've ordered from Black Bear's menu at any of their restaurants. I had a rib-eye steak smothered... More
