This food is fine dining. I don't want to spoil how this place got started but hats off to the owner. You have to visit. The tacos are amazing. Visit their store as well. It's great for a business lunch.

We had just arrived into Los Angeles on the Amtrak, and my friend suggested we try this restaurant not far from Union Station, which he had learned about watching a TV documentary about the Homeboy Enterprises. We were seated in the airy, spacious dining room with a high ceiling. I had a grilled cheese laced with with strips of green... More

An outgrowth of Homeboy Industries, Homegirls Cafe and Bakery provides job training for men and women connected with gangs in LA, the hope is by working together during the day there will be better relationships developed to decrease violence on the streets. Amazing selection of grilled cheese and other sandwiches, salads and side dishes that will satisfy any appetite. Delicious... More

We had a lovely lunch here while visiting LA. Best grilled cheese sandwich I've had yet, and the cucumber cooler drink was amazing. Pastries are all homemade and worth a visit alone. Great service, everyone very welcoming. I'd definitely recommend it.

Clean, light and bright interior compared with the gritty industrial neighborhood. Positive staff, that's friendly, professional, skilled and knowledgable. Menu is cafe style but with a sorta foodie twist. It's all homemade. Consuela sandwich and broccoli-cheese soup Way tasty sandwich and very good soup that had lots of broccoli Also bought baked goods on my way out the door. Eat... More

Gorgeous setting for the lovingly created, fresh ingrediented gourmet Mexican dishes served by the most smiling ex-cons you'll ever encounter.

Count me in as a big fan of Homegirl Cafe and related Homeboy Bakery!! Three events led my wife and I to Homegirl Cafe: First event, PBS has a TV series, I'll Have What Phil's Having!". The series stars Phil Rosenthal and follows his search for great food around the world. In his segment on LA Phil highlights Homegirl Cafe,... More

So this place to be honest is a little scary you see the tatted hardcore looking staff outside leaving form their shifts or on their break. Even when coming inside I was a little cautious because the greeter looked like she would rather be changing an adult diaper than seating us. We were seated and given water and menus, within... Homegirl Cafe is an operation of Homeboy Industries, an organization that helps at-risk individuals become productive members of society. Homegirls Cafe on 130 Bruno St. is in the HQ building of Homeboy Industries. The cafe is open for breakfast and early lunches. I met a friend at LA Union Station and we walked the three long blocks up Alameda St... More

I first came to Homegirl Cafe in 2010 with 20 of my students. I was teaching a class in corrections, and I wanted my students to see examples of solutions to drugs, crime and gangs besides prison. I was expecting mediocre food at best. I was pleasantly surprised. The food is outstanding. I usually get the carnitas tacos on nopal... More
