This was my first visit to Hal's new location at 1025 Abbott Kinney. It was for dinner with friends on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The restaurant was not very busy, so it was quiet and good for conversation. The craft cocktails are good and the burgers we ordered (both beef and turkey) were delicious. Prices are reasonable for the location... More

We sat in the comfortable, rustic garden area and while filled with stylish crowd it was not too busy or noisy. Food was amazing and the appetizers were to die for. Watermelon and crab starter with micro greens and vinaigrette was simply exceptional. Good cocktails well made and presented.

First of all, the address at Trip Advisor on this restaurant is wrong. Hal's closed at the old address and has re-opened at 1025 Abbott Kinney Blvd on a quieter part of the street. The menu is exciting, but it is nothing like the old Hal's where the chef was a master. I had a very good meal there anyway... More

I had dinner with friends in this restaurant and it was quite average. As we had no reservation, there was no place inside, so we accepted to have our dinner in the patio. However the patio is shared with the Mexican restaurant next door. So it was quite uncomfortable and noisy. In general the food was ok but nothing special.... More

This is a great place to go in Venice. This is an old old restaurant for Venice but they systematically provide a great bar and dinner experience. Great food, service, wine and atmosphere at reasonable prices Cannot ask for more than that

My friends have been telling me about Hal's for years and I finally got a chance to experience it. Everything was great from the time we walked through the door. Staff are warm, friendly and welcoming. My friends rave about the turkey burgers. I had duck and it was very good. Loved the artichoke appetizer and you must try the... More

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff all around! Attended during a busy Saturday night, our service was excellent! We started with drinks and Calamari. Calamari was juicy, fresh tasting and a very generous portion! We all had the turkey burger and substituted salad (for a small upcharge) with sweet potatoe fries. We all agreed this was the best turkey burger we ever... More

Low key, decent meal in an attractive space. Simple bowl of soup and a burger were great. Wines were good and reasonably priced. Service was efficient and friendly. No complaints, and recommended.

While some of the restaurants on gentrified Abbot Kinney are pretentious, this one is definitely not and its longevity attests to that. The atmosphere is upscale, the food delicious, the wait staff professional and pleasant. We come here annually around Thanksgiving and the staff greets us as though we are old friends. They recognize us from year to year. Whether... More

Been eating lunch in here for many years, decided to try dinner. Dreadful service, uninspired food served 40 minutes after ordering. (Dessert took 30 minutes) Not a well run retaurant and never going back for dinner.

Staying in Venice

Neighbourhood Profile
Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.
