A friend and I were in the area to visit the Last Bookstore, and we decided to stop at Clifton's to eat as it was in walking distance to the bookstore. Cliftons is an oasis of eclectic culture and memories. There are three stories to the restaurant, where the emphasis isn't only on the food, which is delicious, but its... More

Excellent selection of old school food. We were able to satisfy the wants of 10 people and stay within a budget. Definitely a good choice for a large group with diverse food wants.

Way too loud. And now darker. They have the very dark tiki room which seems dangerous coming down the stairs and the music is cranked up for miilennials. Food is pricey.

The atmosphere is very cool. Lots to see from eclectic to interesting. There are many photo opportunities, from the ambiance to the food. Music in the background allow conversations without interruption so it's a great date location. The ambiance is terrific for the young and old and everyone in between. The food is good;maybe very good but could use just... More

It was an very tasteful joint for a cafeteria. Maybe too old school for me. Anyway the food was good but not the greatest. Service was pure cafeteria with a flare. Ate tuna sampler. Unfortunately, needed salt or mayo or both also very dry. Never again. Purchased a croissant ham and cheese sandwich to share and it was good but... More

Fun place to eat with a group or on your own. Everything is buffet, with different areas: entrees, pasta bar, pizza bar, thanksgiving type meal buffet, dessert buffet, salad and soups, lots of different kinds of drinks. Walking into the food area there are all kinds of fun and unique souvenirs to purchase. The actual restaurant has a bar/lounge on... More

Went to the "new" Clifton's with nostalgic memories from my childhood. Love the new look but I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. All of my selections were mediocre at best. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes not very good. The steamed veggies were just okay. I understand they are going to open a steak house and I hope... More

I remember seeing ads for Clifton's on TV when I was a kid. Decades later, my wife and I just visited the revamped version. It still has the eclectic woodsy decor and fun alcoves, the waterfall and huge trees. It's less cafeteria style and more food courtish. With the four floors of seating and what I hear is a burlesque... More

This is place is really great to take pictures inside and maybe have a drink, not for a meal, it was pricey and average food, I had roast beef, mashed potatoes and mac n cheese, nothing outstanding, my wife had the turkey which was cooked to perfection but $52 for two people is a lot, you can eat for a... This is a wonderful place that both satisfies your tastebuds and your eyes and ears. It is a cafeteria style restaurant where you grab a try and follow the line down so you can choose from a large variety of foods. We went on a Sunday and had a blast eating, listening to the live jazz band and seeing a... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
