Wanting to treat the wife to a nice Mexican dinner on Valentine's we ended up at the original La Parilla. I have been coming here since it opened in 1978. OK, what about the food. Going for something different I tried the Huarache Tizoc. Grilled cactus leaves, shrimp, veggies and melted cheese in green salsa. Excellent when you don't want... More

It's a nice place for special occasion with large group but is too showy for a down-home girl like me. If you like dressed up servers and musician singing at your table, this might be for you. The food is decent, but I've had better in other places.

Great food, hand made tortillas. They have a bar for your drinks.. Mariachi music is sometimes available even on lunch breaks. Michilada are great!

Great variety on the menu - with appetizers, entrees, combinations, etc. I enjoyed the Enchilada de la Casa with salad, rice, and beans....... along with a Negro Modelo beer. I was there for a late weekday lunch so the place was rather quiet. But I imagine it gets busy during peak hours. There is street parking and also a small... More

Whenever I go to La Parrilla, I always leave with a smile on my face, a more than satisfied appetite, and new memories! It has become a tradition to go there for birthdays and the decorations and ambience sure make you feel like celebrating, no matter the occasion. The food is great, and make sure to order the Guacamole as... More

La Parrilla is one of the Eastside's most iconic restaurants. It's located near one of the busiest corners in Boyle Heights, which was the heart of Los Angeles' Jewish community until after World War II. The historic Breed Street Schul is right around the corner and still open as a museum. All the traditional Mexican dishes are on the menu... More

This eatery is a cross between your favorite aunt's kitchen and a crazy carnival. Its fun and the food is fantastic (with one exception). The chilaquiles are excellent and served with a generous portion of grilled chicken. Actually, everything is sizable. Unless you are a serious carnivore, shy away from the burritos that consist of meat and tortilla only. Expect... More

This is just about the worst food restaurant I have ever been without getting sick of the food. The service by the older ladies is not that bad, but the food!! The complementary chips are mediocre at best. The Sangria is just a bit of cheap orange liquor and lots of OJ. The queso fundido is Velveeta style. The Parrillada... More

We went to La Parrilla Restaurant on a family outing. It is a fun place, wonderfully over decorated. There were 7 of us. We started with 2 orders of Guacamole, Quesa Cheese app and 2 orders of Queso Fundido...of course there were margaritas, beers and horchatas. With the tasty appetizers and chips and salsa, we should have been done, but... More

Deliscious Dinner the only thing is be ready for Soliciting Mariachis awaiting for your request. You can't help but be amazed at the decor which is like someone's kitchen-not sure who but somebody's. Some friends , suggested this place as the dinner is definately tasty and the prices not too bad. We all split a Queso Fundido which was very... More
