We made reservations for a group of 7 recently. Upon arrival they didn't have our reservation but were still able to seat us. We were seated right by the musicians. It is a fun atmosphere with good margaritas. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. It's a big menu. The steak tacos and pork in green sauce were big hits. The biggest... More

Great atmosphere, especially the mariachi band. The food was excellent and the portions were large. Great margaritas, but beware....they sneak up on you lol!

In town and googled the place! They had a four star so I figured we'd give them a try. The wait to be seated was RIDICULOUS (45 mins), the wait to eat after being seated SUCKED (45 mins) & the waiter wasn't attentive to us. First impression was TERRIBLE!!!

Red booths: cocktails: perfecto food. Tip: huge serves so one nachos enuff for 3 or 4. Tip: don't eat free corn chips at start because get too full. I had a giant Bloody Mary which was yummy and spicy. Plus about $65 for 4 so great value for 3 dishes and 2 cocktails. Next time we could radically reduce the... More

A great place to meet prior to a game. Experienced wait staff handled our group of six easily and with well timed service. The food was tasty and the bar drinks well mixed. Parking is an issue so leave time to hunt for a place.

We have been to LA several times in the past 2 years. El Compadre is always on our list of must eat places. It is small, simple and truly wonderful. Fermin will take excellent care of you, and make you feel like a regular and a movie star. Ask for him by name if you want a great meal experience... More

If you want to have good Mexican food accompanied by Mexican music, in an old-style Mexican restaurant, yes, in this case, El Compadre is your place. Better if you make a booking before you go since it's a very popular restaurant. They provide valet parking, so one less thing to worry about. My only problem was that our table was... More

In the early 80's, I worked down the street from EL COMPADRE on Sunset Blvd. It was the place to go when my coworkers wanted to celebrate a birthday or someone's new job. I have fond memories of EL COMPADRE and this was my first return visit in decades. Well, it is much the same. It's a classic style Mexican... More

The food is great and reasonably priced - booking a table is a nightmare and the restaurant is always busy. I came here a lot when i lived in LA and would recommend it to anyone who visits.

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
