You need to know what your getting into --- cheeky service, cramped, crowded with very average food. I loved the campy old Hollywood decor, the cheeky with a wink service, silly regulars and all this needs to be taken in good humor. If you can do this then maybe the average food is somewhat easier to swallow. It took a... More

Small cozy old Italian feel. Unique staff with a lot of Italian personality. The food is delicious, but not necessarily for the price. The portions are very generous. Worth the visit

Dan Tana's has been around for over 50 years and I think it's as, if not more popular now as it ever was. It's popular with celebrities and if you're trying to get in on a weekend make sure you call well ahead and be prepared to wait when you get there. It's expensive but the food is great. My... More

I went out with a couple of friends for dinner. Thank God we had a reservations otherwise you cannot get in. The place is tiny and quaint and seems to be stuck in the past which is very nice. Lots of people are sitting at the bar eating and it just seems like an old Hollywood Italian restaurant. The wait... More

Spaghetti & meatballs, spinach ravioli, eggplant parmesan, calamari, garlic bread & caprese were all amazing. The wine list could use some help i.e. variety as well as more price points for each varietal. We were disappointed with two things, which is why this review is lacking the 5th star: - we had a reservation but were seated about 45 minutes... More

We always try to visit Dan Tana's when in LA. The location is great, the food is always good and we love the atmosphere. The place is legendary and I can see why. The vintage neon sign beckons you inside. I collect vintage signs! The vintage menu is right up my alley. The crowd is fun and lively. We have... More

This restaurant is like going back to the little neighborhood Italian restaurants of my childhood. Checkered tablecloths, raffia Chianti bottles hanging on the ceiling, small red leatherette booths and exuberant decor, with wonderful food. My Uncle Joe (Giovanni) would fit right in with the crowd. We went for a family dinner and I had Veal Marsala prepared the way it... More

Delicious food. Crazy busy place! We had reservations thankfully and they were good about getting us seated on time. The food is authentic Italian. It is all booths, red checkered table cloths. Delish. Just go do it.

I still fantasize about it....ah! Best ever! Oh, and also amazingly fun people watching. The food and ambience is so special, most definitely if you are looking to recapture the L. A. essence of our past mid century.

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
