TAIX original location was on a street near Grand Central Station - I cant remember my first visit there - could have been in the 1940's - 1950's at that old location. then TAIX moved - to its' current location - into what was then known as Botwins - as a child living on Waterloo street in the Echo Park... This was so heartwarming -- I loved reading every word of this review. It's so cool that you recall your first visits to the Commercial St. location so vividly and that you're able to compare them to your more recent ones. I am sincerely looking forward to that return visit -- hope to see you back soon! Thank you for... More

Visited here for the first time at the suggestion of the other couple. I read up on the reviews and was interested to see what we would find. OLD, and not well kept up. Its one thing to be old and well maintained, Taix is not one of those places. Carpet and booths show years of wear. We were one... More

You're right that Los Angeles has some great dining options, and I'm glad that you and your party decided to try us out. It's disappointing that you didn't walk away more impressed with what you ordered, though. We set very high standards for ourselves here, and hearing that we didn't meet them in your eyes is concerning. I plan on... More

Excellent food and good services. Been there several times and never had a bad meal. Traditional french country food. Old time atmosphere.

First of all, Taix is an LA landmark that has been around for ages. Secondly, how the heck do you say the name??! I have heard so many different pronunciations for it throughout the years. It's an okay French restaurant. I recently came here for a work event and the service was really good and the food was good for... More

We could tell you the pronunciation, but we think it's better said in person -- you'll have to come back in to find out! Really, though, I wish you walked away more impressed by our food. I know we can find something on the menu that really hits the mark for you, and I hope we get the chance to... More

I have been going to Taix for a few years now. The place feels like a "restaurant" - an old school restaurant. When I can , I try to make it down on Friday nights for the clam chowder. They bring you a big bowl of it for you to pour into your bowl. The lamb chops are great -... More

It had been a while since I had been to Taix. Once again I found the food good, but not great. I will say that the service has improved. If you need a place for a group or company get together, there are lots of separate rooms for such gatherings. The group meals were pretty tasty, and again the service... More

$2.50 required valet parking at noon on a Saturday. No close easy street parking. Only bar with lots of tables for 4 was open at noon. Meals looked pretty and were served promptly. I thought they were overpriced (cheapest was $12.95 on a limited bar menu). A cup of onion soup was $7.95. Waitress knew the chicken would be tough... More

Karen, we're sorry to hear your lunch felt in any way imperfect, and you're more than welcome to ask our servers for a replacement entree if you believe yours has been over cooked, like the chicken you mentioned. Also, while I believe our talented staff and fresh ingredients make our menu worth the price, I'm sorry to hear it wasn't... More

The food here was a bit disappointing, a bit overcooked and over the top with toppings. Salad was all lettuce and too much dressing.

Came here for dinner, unfortunately they were hosting a music festival so the bar area was very busy. The food was okay, not worth the price in my opinion.

Hi, Sammy! Sorry to hear we were overly busy during your recent visit. Our staff does their best to keep up with the orders, but the festival crowd can slow down the works during those two days that mark our busiest period of the year, by far.
