We were here in August of 2020 for take out. They were not seating people inside during that time, but I remember some folks outside. We called in our order and went to pick it up when they said it would be ready. When we...got there, it wasn't quite ready. But we did not have to wait too long. In order to use my debit card, they told me they would impose a fee. They did NOT say anything about that when I ordered, and it is NOWHERE on their website. There also was nothing about that posted in the restaurant (which I think is required by law.) Not many people carry around a lot of cash these days, and during COVID times cash is one of the dirtiest things you can use. They also charged to use a credit card, and they wouldn't take a check. So, I had no choice. When we got the food back to the hotel, it was awful. I had a teriyaki bowl. The sauce had NO flavor, and it was mostly just rice. It was probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. My daughter had an order of dumplings. She said they were ok, but she didn't finish them. And she did not want to take the leftovers when we left the next day. Don't go here. There are much better places in town, and they do not serve good Chinese food.More

I had a bad experience a few years ago (never received my entree after 1.5 hrs) and said i would never eat here again. But Seasons was closed and it's tough to find food during covid. Should have stuck to that as this experience was...terrible. The steak was tough and flavorless & not cheap, the salad was ok. In their defense they forgot to pack the salad in my takeout order but did walk it down to my hotel room because i didn't want to walk back in the sweltering heat. I will never return.More

Service was just awful. 3 of us were seated at a dirty 6 top and told not to worry, the people before us sat at the other end of the table and our end was clean (which it wasn’t). This is during the COVID high...risk era, surprisingly cavalier attitude. Food came out one plate at a time separated by about 5 minutes. By the time the last dish arrived the first person was almost done. Then we waited for our check to be picked up while our server sat at a table eating dinner. Getting up to joke around then sitting back down to eat more. Food reviews were mixed, one good, one ok, and one awful. And don’t try to order from the kids menu if you’re an adult. Enforcement of that crucial rule is monumentally more important than giving someone who’s not that hungry what they want to eat.More

The whole place gave us the creeps....it seems it's a family run business, and as we were visiting the area we felt like second class citizens. The Chow mein is nothing like any other Chow Mein I have ever eaten and the Sweet & Sour...Pork my husband order said was awful.More

A strange name for an Asian restaurant, but it is catchy. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed. Fortunately for us, a nice couple had two extra seats at their table, so we took them up on their offer. This couple lived 100 miles away,...and they told us they come to the Merry Go Round every time they are in the area. We basically ordered what they were ordering. Everything was so fresh. Service was a little slow, which was understandable considering there were no available seating.More

Friendly staff and service immediately. Great hosts. Food is top quality and freshly prepared by Veteran chefs. Very busy usually and wait times do occur but worth it. Take away available. A must place to eat.

Stopped in here for a early dinner. By 6:00 pm the place was packed. The space inside is very small. Not a lot of room to wait for a table. It’s on the expensive side for Chinese food but it hit the spot.

US395 runs north-south from the Canadian Border to Riverside, California through 4 States. Many good eating places along the way and an absolute standout is Margie’s Merry-Go-Round in Lone Pine, CA, Family owned and operated, Szechuan cuisine superbly prepared. They even made a hot&sour soup...for me even though it was not on the menu for the evening. Believe me, best such soup I have ever had in the US. This is our 2nd time stopping in for supper and we certainly expect to do it again. Egg drop soup also excellent. Lightly coated deep fried shrimp and delightful pork egg rolls. Very difficult to select a favorite entree as they are all just too delicious to describe with a few words. If you are ever in the area do stop in.More

As you have already been informed. Yes, this time of year, 3 days in Lone Pine would be enough. The Alabama Cafe is a great place for breakfast, along with Margie's Merry Go Round for a great Chinese dinner. Also the... More
