We went to Anza Borrego for a day hike, on the way back to San Diego we were a bit tired and didn´t want to eat in busy Julian so we drive past it hoping to find someplace to eat. I have to say we had passed infront of this place many times before but didn´t venture to get in,... More

We were hungry on our way to Anza Borrego Desert State Park and saw the signs advertising chicken pot pies - so we pulled in. Sat on the outside deck overlooking the lake (and some maintenance buildings) and enjoyed the view and birds (geese, sparrows, etc). The pot pies were good size and very hot. Although not the best pot... More

I had the fish and chips platter - delicious!!! The atmosphere was great, very friendly service and beautiful views from their patio over the lake.

The chicken pot pie was delicious. I wasn't satisfied with the carne asada fries, it has chopped onions, shredded cheese, carne and a slice of tomatoe on top and Flavors were bland. The Pie was delicious and the pot pie too.

We were there just after Xmas and there was a big crowd of San Diego families in the area to experience real snow. This place was mobbed. They ran out of everything. But we did have the famous chicken pot pie -- and -- yes - - it is good. They just cannot cope with a large number of people.... More

It is apparently known for its Schnitzel but I had one of those famous apple pies and a coffee outside on the terrace for sunset. Great view....and very friendly staff ! Not sure if that really was my favorite apple pie....I found it a bit too sweet....but I can't compare with any other in Julian.

We stopped here for lunch on a drive through the mountains. The food was well prepared and very tasty. We had a turkey sandwich made with freshly roasted turkey, soup of the day and a half ham sandwich. We have no complaints about the food or the service.

Came up to have breakfast here with some friends on a weekday and thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on their back deck overlooking the lake. This is a cafe quality establishment, so nothing fancy, but tables were clean as were the bathrooms. Service was slow, but the food was fairly good with reasonable portion sizes. Pricing, however, was outrageous. I had... More

It's a tradition to drive to Julian to pick up an apple pie while in San Diego and to grab breakfast here on the way up. This time we tried the turkey/avocado eggs Benedict spinach eggs Benedict and were not disappointed. The turkey appeared to have been freshly cut off a whole bird too!
