Breakfast was terrible. Asked eggs over easy and well done. They took them back and brought back undercooked. Toast dried out and burned, Potatoes overcooked and tasteless.

We visited on the morning of foggy march 23 before heading out to the superbloom. There was only one waitress and she was running the place like a superwoman. The pancakes were huge and delicious and my husband really enjoyed his biscuits and gravy. The childrens' pancake came out in the shape of a Mickey Mouse, which my kids loved.... More

we were in the area for the desert bloom at anza-borrego; as were a lot of others. we had to wait about 15 minutes to get table...... the food was fine - as was the service. I am sure they were tired from the somewhat unexpected throng of desert visitors. it's not fine dining - good comfort foods.

Big beautiful pies for the pie lovers among you! (NOT for GF sadly). Lots of choices and a really big pie to take home.

We drove to Julian on a weekday to look at the daffodils and we chose Julian Cafe and Bakery for lunch. We walked into the cafe at about 11:20 and saw a few people eating breakfast, but many empty tables. We were given water and menus right away, but they were breakfast menus. When we said we had come for... More

We have visited before and the food is always good. Breakfast pancakes are huge and very tasty but it's almost impossible to eat more than one. The eggs and bacon were very good as well. There didn't seem to be enough help this particular morning, so until more troops were called in and tables cleaned quite a few people had... More

All the restaurants were packed. We just wanted some pie. The Cafe/Bakery was perfect = had a window onto the sidewalk just for ordering pies and slices. Even though you can see pies sitting right there...it took a few minutes to get the slices from the back. Julian is known for it's apples and pies. This was 'off-season'...we were disappointed;... On your way to or from the Anza Borrego Desert State Park make sure to stop at the Julian Cafe & Bakery. Their apple pie with whipped cream or maybe ice cream is to die for.

We stopped in Julian for lunch after a trip to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. I figured I would have to endure a bad tourist quality lunch. But, what a pleasant surprise was in store for us. Extremely friendly and inviting staff, lots of smiles. The bacon and cheese burger with fries was delicious and was big enough for my wife... More
