Schedule always a long wait [at least 30/45 mn] before reaching your spot outdoor for a wonderful view of the ocean, but it's worth it ... [4 stars for the view] Despite being vegetarian, I was hoping to eat a clam chowder but... they have bacon in it!! so I was kind of frustrated and have to change my choice... More

Sam's Chowder House not only has a great view of the coast with indoor and outdoor, patio dining, but the food is delicious. I had the chowder (don't you have to order that at a Chowder House?) for an appetizer. It was so good - a broth base rather than a creamy base which brought out the flavor of the... More

Great place to visit, plenty of parking, well organised and a nice view. The staff are very well versed in the menu, she actually stopped me from ordering to much, great girl. The food was sensational, very tasty, and well prepared. We ate the bisque special, gunbo, two styles of oysters and a ceaser salad, all exceptional. I highly recommend... More

When I heard the name Sam's Chowder House I had envisioned an ocean of Clam chowder Boston or New England is my preference. But I found out they have bacon in it. So can't eat it. But they have shrimp poor boys on the menu and I am a Cajun from Louisiana so of course I wanted to taste back... More

Having lived in New England and made the chowder rounds, both the NE and Manhattan Clam Chowder at Sam's were really well-prepared and flavorful- not too thick with flour and cream, nice veggie mixed in with clams. We visited there rain-drenched and tired from a long flight, and the piping hot bowls of soup hit the spot. The ambience of... More

My wife and I loved our first trip to Sam's. It must always be hard to live up to big reputations, and Sam's didn't disappoint. The location is awesome.....right on the harbor with breathtaking views. The waves were breaking over the levees - and combining that with the certifiably insane windsurfers blazing around the harbor in 30 mph winds -... More

I usually eat in the bar area at happy hour. As a local, I love being able to walk to Sam's and meet up with friends. I rarely eat in the dining room, as I enjoy the more casual atmosphere of the bar and happy hour prices. I have eaten in the dining room, and it is family friendly, but... More

It has been a while since we visited Sam's; mostly because the parking lot is typically packed and there is a wait if you don't have reservations. We both enjoyed a cup of clam chowder before our fish and chips; the "cup" is a bowl about 5 inches across.... much more than what I expected in a "cup". The chowder... More

Particularly noteworthy were the cioppino (delectable broth!) and the clams on the half-shell. The quality of the food definitely deserved 4 stars. But the quality of the service was only 2 stars, so my rating of 3 averages the two. At a midweek noontime when the place was not crowded at all, the waitress rushed us mercilessly; she even started... More
