We ate here twice in November last year - catching up now on some overdue reviews - based on a recommendation from someone at the Welk Timeshare Resort where we stayed. An old-fashioned place, the food was quite good. Chips and salsa complimentary were excellent and the pork dished we ordered came out hot, complete and tasty. Seems like a... More

My brother is a bit of a picky person, so for him to keep returning to La Tapatia Restaurant & Cantina means that they are doing something right! He'll drive a dozen miles or so to come here because the food is consistently good; they have a "Whatever you want" attitude of service, and they're all so friendly. It's not... More

I lived in Escondido for about 6 years and would go to La Tapatia on a regular basis. Even now when I live close to downtown San Diego, the trip up to Escondido is worth it for the food.

La Tapatia seams like it has been here forever. We eat here about once every other year. Allways the same large portions and you leave full. There is something for everyone.

We ate here when we traveled to Escondido for a craft fair (don't bother to go to the craft fair) and stopped to have a bite to eat. The service was good, but the chimi and burros that we ordered were pretty bland. Nothing to write home about.

My wife had the Chicken Salad and I had a combo plate ( Taco, Tostada and Enchilada ) Everything was Super ............ even the Margaritas and Chips And Salsa. Some other reviews said they had bad service ......... ours was mostly a young guy from behind the bar that was very busy , yet he was still friendly and gave... More

This is a comfortable, authentic enough restaurant to get a decent Mexican meal. I enjoyed my Chicken mole very much and even the chips and salsa were above par. The service was epically bad, however, particularly considering that there were two servers and only 4 tables of guests when we arrived. I had to get out of my seat and find... More

Fish tacos lunch special with rice n beans was tasty! Tacos had Fried, breaded pollock with drizzle of sauce, cabbage and radish. Rice was rather bland and beans were fair. Chips were thicker than standard Mexican cuisine. Salsa was decent, not spicy but tasty. Service was attentive and pleasant! Would visit again.
