Based on reviews thought this was going to much more enjoyable. Restaurant is small, decent service, pricey, quality ok. Sushi was ok yet teriyaki bowl was bland and unenjoyable.

If you've lived in Japan, SF, or Manhattan, then you know that none of the sushi joints in San Diego can compare. As such, I'm rating Kaito solely as to how it compares to sushi places in SD. i.e., compared to Kabuto in Las Vegas,...More
I know Sushi Ono is supposed to be the best but this place is smaller, more intimate and has friendly helpful staff. The sushi is delicious and there is a good variety of fish available.

We're huge sushi fans. Fish quality was a bit above average. My wife ordered uni (sea urchin), $9 per order. Sushi chef for some reason took the liberty of giving us two orders, which we didn't realize til we got the bill. His explanation? -...More
One of a few Japanese restaurants that is not owned by some pretenders. If you don't like "sweet" sushi or restaurants that have no respect for Japanese food, you will love this place. The sushi chefs and staff are very nice and they prepare the...More
