We stopped in the evening and was not expecting much and we were so impressed. The fish was fresh and the service was warm

Toshi the owner and lead sushi chef is like family. Even if you are not a regular you will be treated as if you have been here ofter. Do Chef's choice or select what you want. Always fresh and Toshi will steer you to what you want.

My brother found Sushi Karen 10 or 12 years ago when he worked and lived in the neighborhood. It quickly became a favorite spot for the whole family - our mom, my kids, etc. We are treated like family and can spend hours eating amazing sushi and sashimi, chatting with the chefs and feeling like the world is a good... This place is not that well known but the sushi is awesome. They have the freshest sushi. Try the carpaccios. If you like real sashimi then there are few spots in LA as good.

my wife and I have been to plenty of sushi restaurants around the world - including Japan- and we find Sushi Karen one the best of the kind in US. Food is incredible and authentic. dont miss the fried jumbo shrimp head - if they have it. Decor is not great - you go to this one for the food... More

Came here on a week night. Sushi was reasonably good and this is reflected in the price. Service was so lame and frustrating. Ambience is ok but not greatest setting and there are better sushi restaurants in the area but for the price, can't go too badly wrong.

My sister is a local, and discovered this restaurant a while back. I have had sushi only a time or two before and didn't really enjoy it much. This restaurant has changed my mind. All the seafood was very fresh and not the least bit "fishy". Tried both the sushi and some tempura which we ordered "just in case", and... More

Once I went to Karen Sushi a few years ago, I just could not stop. I have lunch here on average of one time per week. I believe it is the best sushi in the local area. It has always been fresh. It has always been very good and sometimes even better than that. They ordered Giant Clam for me... More

Authentic and innovative sushi; very fresh and high quality fish, served at the right temperature and in interesting ways, with subtle sauces and flavors. Started with a nice miso soup and sauteed shishito and then jumped into continuous rounds of flavor - amber jack with jalapeno citrus sauce, halibut carpaccio (almost like thin sliced fugu), albacore tuna sushi (melt-in-your-mouth sensation... I've had sushi at all the Culver City sushi restaurants (sorry, not restaurants which have sushi on their menus, but SUSHI restaurants) - Sushi Karen is my favorite. Because of the freshness of the fish, attentiveness of the itamae-san and waitresses, value and relaxed ambience. The only negative comment - is that sometimes there are no metered parking spaces along... More
