I went to this place Sat night with some friends and really liked it, had the Aloha Roll and Tuna Tataki with mushrooms and sauce. Both plates were very tasty, we ordered also edamame but, to my surprise, they eere served cold and no salt on it, different but good. Service was also good and prices were according to SoCal... If you want great sushi while in Costa Mesa then this is the spot. Right across from the fairgrounds so a very healthy alternative to Fair food. The place has been open for 16 years and is consistently good with the freshest fish around. The rolls were unique and tasty. My fav is the Aloha Roll with poke on top... More

This place was small, not crowded, and had attentive service. I felt like I was being hosted by a family. I'm no sushi snob, but I thought the food tasted excellent. My co-workers and I came for a lunch break, and we tried a variety of items: sashimi, sushi, hand-rolls, miso soup, and tempura rolls. The tuna (I forget what... More

Came in 1 hour before close and the sushi was amazing. The service was top notch as well. The staff did not rush us at all despite the late hour. This place is a great hole in the wall for VERY casual sushi!

I've been going to Sushi Island since it opened more than a decade ago. Head chef and owner Masami has created many super tasty dishes. My favorites include the tuna tetaki with mushroom cream sauce, shrimp dumplings and the sashimi salad. Ask your chef whatever the best fish of the day is and you won't be disappointed.

This area has a sushi restaurant every 25 feet, but we go here whenever we are in town for business. The service is very prompt, and the sushi fresh, creative and fairly priced. A few outdoor seats, nothing to brag about, but good sushi, sake and service.

I've tried sushi at many places, the high end and the mid range. But Sushi Island is just the BEST. I have made it my local spot because it truly is deserving of a good review. 1) Great sushi... the volcano roll is tops. 2) Great dining experience.... the staff is accomodating & the sushi chefs always greet you when...
