Lots of fun action to watch if you sit at the counter. Wait staff is so very friendly! Prime rib was perfect.

Used to live nearby and for years loved it. On a biz trip to SF and drove over for dinner last night......cocktail server tried to be funny but insulting. Salad with shrimp........watery and not fresh. $34 NY steak was small and tough as nails, warm (not hot) fries......"special spinach".......maybe from freezer and where was the "special"? Wife ordered veal, ok,... More
Finding good restaurants in Marin can be a challenge so on our last visit we went to Marin Joe's, a place I hadn't been to in probably 20 years. Being Saturday night and not having reservations, we took a chance on being able to get a table without having to wait an hour. We lucked out. We were seated at... More
Since it is so popular I decided to give it a second chance. This time I ordered Eggplant Paragon. The Eggplant to way to hard like it was overcooked. The sauce was too watery. Before going I checked the website for prices and found out that they have not bothered to update to the higher prices. I still don't get... More
We have been customers since 1954. I live farther away now but still venture to Marin Joe's when I don't want any surprises at dinner. Scallopini Sec is outstanding. Calamari Dore, also.
The only good thing about this place is that it is open late.It has been around for years and it has gotten really bad. We arrived about 930pm and were served old dry hard French bread. The waitress disappeared and I had to ask another waiter to find her so we could order (35 minutes ). we observed other parties being... Okay, we go there probably once a week- usually Fridays. They have a roast turkey special- YUM!! Great ambiance with live piano bar music most nights. Love their house made cheese with a cocktails before dinner!! There is something on the menu for everyone; burgers, fish, chicken (many preparations of each) , pasta, steak, pork chops, salads, omelettes and sandwiches.... More
Extensive menu containing both traditional American and Italian fare along with items not found elsewhere. Food very good and well prepared. Service prompt and attentive. A favorite spot when in the area. However, be aware the place is extremely popular and waits can be extensive, esp. on weekends. Hint: go early.
It is so obvious return diners get preferential treatment! We waited over an hour when we were finally seated. We were seated in the back room which was disgusting. I will admit their hamburgers are the best!! I will never go back there!
Do not go there if you are looking for decent Italian. you won't find it here. If you like steaks, red meat then this is your place. It is old school. Lots of martinis flowing! I am not a red meat person so do not envision eating here since there are lots of other restaurants that have good food. The... More
