This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever experienced. the food was tremendous, the staff went out of their way to make you feel like home. The Cameron fiesta is to die for.

My husband and I had just arrived in Palm Springs for his baseball tournament. Checked Trip Advisor for a local Mexican restaurant nearby. El Portal lived up to the reviews. They offer a 3-course meal of salad, entree and dessert for a very reasonable price. We both had the camerones ceviche tostada to begin, which was a nice serving size... More

We went for "Taco Tuesday" and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was very friendly and attentive. We tried both soft and crispy tacos, both good but preferred the latter. Good margaritas. Excellent value.

We found this friendly place on our way back from hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. The service was welcoming and made you feel right at home, though we had never been there before. Once seated, the wait staff was over to bring us chips and salsa as well as menus. The margaritas are authentic. They are offered in three... More

I've been to every Mexican restaurant in the Coachella valley or most restaurants, I should say. El Portal has great service, the owner always makes sure to come by our table and say hello. All waitress are phenomenal as well. Food wise, I've tried their seafood, enchiladas, burritos, queso fundido, tortas, tacos and the list goes on, and we are... More

I had the shrimp and spinach enchiladas, excellent. My husband had chicken quesadillas. Their salsa was fresh and excellent. Service was friendly and we were pleasantly surprised when our waitress gave us one meal free (Wednesday special). Lots of Mexican restaurants around here, this one's a keeper.

We asked our waitress about getting some veggie-based food and she checked to see what was available. We ended up getting fajitas with onions, carrots, spinach, tomatoes, potatoes and zucchini. Also beans, rice and a little salad. Other than having mushy zucchini, the dish was excellent and very fairly priced. Oh and the salsa was full of fresh flavor. Service... More

Our office is in Rancho Mirage and our home in Palm Springs. Virtually in the middle is family owned El Portal on Date Palm west of Ramon. I went for simplicity and had a cheese enchilada and chicken tanak. My husband ordered a chicken mole platter. Boy it was fun picnicking off each other's plates. A sweet surprise was an... More

We stopped in here on a Sunday in July because Don and Sweet Sues had too long a wait. It took over 5 minutes to get a menu. Had to go to the counter and ask. The place was clean and only 2 other tables occupied. Only breakfast items were being served so I could not order some of the... More
