We at the Palms and enjoyed the history of the hotel and the food and service was terrific. They had a great drink and wine selection. I would do a family or special dinner here anytime.

We had a wonderful lunch there and great staff. Would definitely recommend it and will go back. It is so peaceful sitting overlooking the great pool. Also, one would expect to see a movie star come walking through the doors.

Is this place in progress (rebuilding, renewing, reviving?) or is it complete (done, kaput, over); as parts of it looked like it needed serious resuscitation and other parts looked as though there was potential for a wow factor! Not being a local and not making the opportunity to stay at the hotel and "experience" the magic of being in the... More

If you're in or around the Anza-Borrego area, go to the Coyote Steakhouse. We ordered from the prix fixe menu for dinner and had one of the most delicious and delightful meals ever. And the price was incredibly reasonable! If the weather's agreeable, ask for a table outside and your meal will be accompanied by a beautiful view of the... More

While this property is in a in between state of updates? It has retro history and charm and most important really fine food! Great salads, personal service and atmosphere galore - if you like a little off the main stream - go and enjoy PS I hear dinner is really amazing! We would put that at the top of our... More

Dinner was very good and after a slight glitch the service was good. It's in a hotel built in 1958 so it's not really historic as advertised, unless you are 5 years old. Didn't see the rooms but pool and spa looked good. Wine list nothing to write home about, could use some improvement. Caesar salad and lamb were very... More

The fixed price idea appealed to us so we gave it a try. Reservation for outside was graciously moved inside when winds kicked up. Seated by a window, we studied the pool landscaping which really needs some help. Liver pate wasn't particularly good. Sunset came and went while we enjoyed our tasty wedge salads. Pork roast for my husband was... More

Relaxing beautiful outdoor setting overlooking hotel pool surrounded by palm trees. Wait staff slightly erratic but didn't overshadow an excellent meal. Pianist provided beautiful background!

We visited the Anza-Borrego state park to view the wildflower blooms. They were spectacular this year. We asked at the Natural History Museum in town for a lunch recommendation. They recommended the Coyote Steakhouse at The Palms at Indian Head. It was a great recommendation. The hotel is mid-century modern and quite charming. We ate at the patio looking at... More

Reviewed 20 March 2017

We made reservations in advance because of the March 2017 crowds. Before 6:30PM three course meal is $20 and after it's a very reasonable $25 each. Menu has about 6 appetizers, 6 entrees, and three desserts. One entree we ordered was pork tenderloin and terriyaki steak; other was Homemade Meatloaf; both came with hot rolls and mashed potatoes and a... More
