In the heart of Bishop is this little gem! The fish is very fresh and well prepared. The menu is complete as is the sake list. And service was great.

It has been a yearly ritual that we dine here after skiing for the week. We always look forward to "yummy tummy". It's the highlight of our dining experience. All the rolls are delicious! We have had excellent service and always sit at the sushi bar. The cold saki, Drunken Whale is worth every penny. Tommy, the owner suggested it.... More

Excellent, authentic, well-prepared Japanese cuisine. Loved the teriyaki chicken, the salads, the sushi, most everything. Ate there twice. A real lovely building and decor. Only negative: Both nights, we met with rather rude staff, at front desk/reception, including the owners wife, except that one waiter, David, was nice, kind, professional, and great in every way.

This place has excellent sushi. Who would have thought in Bishop? You can't go wrong with any of the rolls and the sushi is large servings.

Teriyaki entree was served with a goopy sweet (barbecue like sauce) smothered on it along with a bunch of salad (90%+ iceberg lettuce with a few slivers of carrot) piled up on the SAME plate! Really, that is not teriyaki based on my past experience. My guests fish looked good but was way overcooked & came with the same salad... More

This nice Japanese restaurant is a couple of doors away from The Creekside Inn. I was surprised at how busy it was on a Thursday night. There were tourists and locals enjoying the food. The menu was quite extensive, the amount of food served was generous and the price was quite reasonable. Chopsticks only on the table. But forks were... More

Ate here and had good experiences both times. The sushi was very good and the Japaneese dishes are very tasty and authentic. If you are looking for a great place to eat give Yamatani a try.

On our drive from So Cal to North Idaho, we stopped for the night in Bishop. We love sushi and our BNB told us about this place. I told our waitress I cannot have mayo on any roll because of allergy to eggs. She assured me there was no mayo on the dragon roll. I repeated that I cannot eat... More

Traditional janpense menu. Amazing to get such fresh fish in the middle of the dessert. Always go there.

Get the "BOB" roll, you will be back again and again! Always great service for a special evening out with family/friends. The fried cheese cake is great!
