A nice lunch & good beer in quiet surroundings, no loud music. Good value. Complemented them for very clean toilets. Large tarmcadam car park - no potholes or puddles.

We booked for Saturday lunch, we took our our dog for a walk first & returned to the pub & were met with a very warm & friendly welcome. Good pub food & plenty of treats for Brodie. We look forward to returning soon.

Popped in to try their chilli, cheese and chips challenge... And a challenge it was! I thought I did well, eating a mound almost the same size as my head! Faith, Anthony and Sally made the challenge fun, and the lovely breeze ensured the blazing...More

Visited the John Bunyan with grandchildren for a birthday lunch. Straightforward fare (ploughman’s, ham egg and chips, prawn salad, etc) but all well prepared and served. Although close to St Albans the pub is very much a country pub. Only two people running the pub...More

The theory is great: a country pub in a secluded location ... quiet and relaxing. The location is secluded but the welcome is far from relaxing, although it seems like the locals are treated differently - they take priority at the bar. Some other visitors...More

Sorry you feel that way, I think you may have us mixed up with another pub. We welcome all with the same warm friendly welcome, hoping all will leave a local. If your free please come try our pub ?
