The sushi is good, the restaurant is cosy (partially below street level) and clean, and the service is good.

I live in the Bay area for some years now, and Sushi Cal became one of my regular dinner places in Berkeley. The food is great, the chef knows what he is doing, beers and Japanese liquor are delicious and Fridays you have a band...More
Excellent sashimi, miso soup to die for and lemon chicken like no other! A most lucky find, as the salmon. Kama was simply award-winning for sure! Great staff: Friendly and very humble and professional. I am forced to wait patiently until I will have the...More
This is a small sushi place in the general UC Berkeley area (but two large blocks away). I ordered a sashimi combination, which was fine (nothing to complaint about, but also nothing to write home about). A large sashimi combination and a miso soup cost...More
Great Japanese food in Berkeley, California. We've been going to this place for over ten years, always a delight. Fresh fish, always, and great service! We love the live music on Friday nights. Highly recommended.

I haven't written a review on Trip advisor in a while, and definitely since the site renovation. But I came back just to tell everyone how LOUSY this restaurant is. I wrote an extensive review on yelp about my horrific dining experience, so I won't...More
The sushi was solid - my SO loved the fish! And the vegetarian selections were also quite good, especially the Agadashi Tofu (something I order at every japanese restaurant I go to).
The food and service was great. Awesome price and specials I would eat here again any day!
The food was mediocre to poor. Soup was boring, spinach salad was tasteless except for the strong vinegar, the sushi was mushy and tasteless (I think it had been frozen).
