We often visit the Gilman Grill for breakfast or lunch with friends. The menu is very extensive, prices fair, and service always friendly. It is a laid back 'old Berkeley' kind of place where one can sit and read or just chill with some coffee. A pleasant respite from the burst of gentrification and parking problems a few blocks away.

Great little cafe tucked away in the backstreets! Fast friendly service with a smile! We had the Denver Omelette and Gillman Potatoes. Food is a large portion for a very reasonable price! Great place for breakfast and lunch with breakfast being served till 3 pm. Highly recommended!

I frequently eat breakfast here when I am in the Bay Area. The service is friendly, food good, coffee good, and served fast. Also, while busy, it is not overly crowded It is located just off HWY 80, and easily reached from the freeway. You would have a hard time finding a better breakfast in Berkeley.

Leaving the cafe, turn right,go to first corner, turn left,go to street with stoplight and turn left, then onto Gilman to... More

This is a neighborhood coffee shop, nothing pretentious, friendly, good for what it is: omelettes, burgers, lattes etc. I am always happy to have lunch here, and always greeted with a smile. Nice to have an oasis of sanity in an ocean of pretentious eateries...interesting alternative just a few blocks away from the too trendy Fourth Street shopping district. Worth... More

Hungarian mushroom soup makes this breakfast and sandwiche joint worth a trip. My baked eggplant sandwich rocked. Lotsa locals here and a very cute wait staff. $7 to 8 for most sandwiches or burgers. Campy atmosphere near hippyville. Go, but be careful of the offerings of brownies.

We like the uniqueness of the food selections and that it is walking distance from my cousin's house. Great desserts too!

Food is okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. The service was not so good.
