After the big fire Muddy waters are now open and serving marvelous food, my partner had a starter of oysters and a main of chicken salad which she just loved, I had just a main of fish and chips wow what a great meal, we will be coming back again and again.

Although the bar was really quiet, we were there on a public holiday, we decided to eat after checking out the specials board and menu. The waitress was very helpful and advised us that we could also order off the bar menu. We ordered Shrimp pasta and the pan fried terakihi fish with salad and fries. A drink each with... More

We stopped here enroute to Rotorua and, as we are from the USA we didn't have any idea of a lunch choice. Well the reviews may be mixed but we had a very good lunch. The beef touredor was perfect as well as my husband's chicken. Mashed potatoes were good and the vegetables fresh. We highly recommend this as a... More

Shared a shrimp cocktail with hubby and I had lamb shank and he had steak. Food was great. Waitress was good. Didn't have to sit there half the night waiting for our meal. Really enjoyed it.

Went here to give it a try with a bit of trepidation looking at other reviews, however it was great! We shared a shrimp cocktail which was large and delicious, lots a lovely fresh prawns. I had fish and hubby had lamb shank. Both cooked to perfection. My only suggestion would be maybe a sauce of some sort for the... More

Hard to know where to start really. Even for a motorway service station the place is dire. In a place that uses frozen toasted sandwiches, it's difficult to think what the remainder of the very limited menu might be like. The waiting staff had clearly never had any customer service training and the tables were sticky. I understand from previous... More

Had a three course lunch here. The mussels and garlic bread for the entree would have been a great lunch just by themselves, however, it being a celebration, we followed up with mains. I enjoyed my Thai beef salad - tasty and plenty of it. Dessert was Creme Brulee. Nice crack to the toffee, a little surprise under the custard... More

Visited Muddy waters on 27 October. a lovely bar. nice layout and absolutely loved the wood cabin style. Bar was quite busy at the time. was a Thursday around 5.30pm The girl behind the bar obviously didn't want to be there. a smile and a hello would go along way. leaning on the end of bar with a sour look... Had started the night in the bar and had a few bar snacks being wings, nachos, and fries that were fairly good. Bar has a good vibe and really good staff behind the counter however the restaurant is a completely other experience. I ordered the whitebait omelette which had very little whitebait and was big and floury and to top... More

The food was delicious, fish and chips were great, chicken schnitzel was yummy, kids meals were nice and basic. Could have got a full five star rating from me if staff smiled more (first waitress couldn't crack a smile but the second was lovely and bubbly), garlic bread missing off order and an agonising wait just to get orders taken....
